You may have missed the point. Lipos are lighter. And there is not as much of a performance loss, if any. You can move a lipo forward and back like any other battery. And most lipos will run only around 10 minutes anyway during race conditions. Sure that nimh battery may last that long, but by the end of the race your acceleration/top speed and the ability to clear jumps will fail miserably in comparison to a lipo. Even by the end of a 5 minute race my lipo will out perform any nimh, period. While you are slowing down, the guys running lipos will still be hauling ass.
I understand that it is more expensive to buy the battery and the charger. But if you want to race and be competitive there is no alternative. But if you are doing it for fun and don't really care how you finish then by all means stick with the nimh batteries.
And I have been racing for years and years. Not a professional by any sense of the word but this is common knowledge. The races at hot rods hobbies are rarely, rarely over 7 minutes long. The only reason we don't run 10 is due to the fact that most are running the very heavy losi ten-scte and can't last that long. Even with a 6500mah battery.
    But what do I know.

I don't know anyone really that wants to add that much weight to increase performance. That's what suspension is for. Weight bias is what you should be more concerned about. And weight transfer. Shock stiffness, oil weight, and all of the other settings will make the truck handle better.

There is no racing league out there, nascar, nhra, indy, and so on that does not spend millions on r&d to lighten components to make cars/bikes/trucks/boats faster and handle better. Hence carbon fiber and so on.

LOL lighter is not always better, for someone who says he has run so much I'm surprised you don't get that, this is not a drag race, this is a track there are plenty more things more important that making a truck faster. Since you want to brag so much yes I too raced for years years Monster Truck, 1/8th Buggy, 1/8th Truggy heck it was even funny beating people who spend loads on making their truck lighter and spending a lot on their Italian engines, yet get beaten with a <$150 engine due to that mentality . I know most of the racers here, know what they are running. I understand your lipo fetish and as I said I will eventually run them when mains are longer, for now it'll work, cause it works for others here. Not everyone will always agree with you, so get over it.

First of all asshole. I didn't say anything to insult your intelligence. You want to be a prick go do it somewhere else. I am not one who spends money for a name. And having a lighter car does not mean faster. That is a side effect. Don't cry because you are poor and can't afford it douche bag. You are the one that can't handle it. Try reading the last few pages before you go walk off a long pier. Fetish my ass.

This thread went south real fast hahaha. Honestly who cares. Just go drive ur cars, fly ur helis, tune ur nitro engines, and figure out ways to keep your brushless systems cool. In the end just have fun. That's why us grown men are playing with toy cars right. :D

Cool and I haven't use any strong words to insult you. Its nice of you to imply I'm poor without any sort of finial information. No one bitched when I said I was going NiMh for now, yet for some reason you took it personally and felt a need to show off. Even after saying I know there are benefits to lipo and that I would eventually use it, you still felt like going more in to it, with the "but what do I know" "raced years years " smart ass remarks, so what? I have walk and chew for years, yet I still sometimes trip and fall or bite my tongue.

Go build the lightest fastest 1/10 truck, let me know how it works out for you at an offroad track.
