I've drawn for quota hunt permits for the past two years and haven't got anything back. I never had a problem when they did it on paper...now that it's all electronic we haven't got any permits :/

Wow that sucks. You should look around and see if there are any managment areas around you that are open to hunt without a quota permit. Heres the pics of the bird I killed this morning.

The beard was 9 1/2 inches. Not the biggest but it'll taste good!

It's youth hunt this weekend in TN. I took my 10 year old this morning. We had one strut about 60 yards across a field on a line to our decoy. It needed about 10 more steps before I gave the shoot command and he spooked. He didn't get a shot but it was still an awesome morning. He has baseball this afternoon and we will give it another shot in the morning.

    nice bird!

And yeah, there is one mgt area near by that you dont need a quota hunt permit, but the turkey population there is somewhat low.

Thanks. Around the gainesville area, or I guess I should say places surrounding Gainesville, there are plenty of birds. Just have to find where they're at.

There is one thing I enjoy more than hunting and that is hunting with my little boy. Hopefully I will be able to post his bird tomorrow.

No luck over the weekend. I did call one in Monday morning that I couldn't get a shot at. He slipped in and I didn't see him until he was on top of me. Gobbled 15 yards from me and walked to within 6 yards.

Went back this morning and didn't hear a bird.

Not FL, but close, south GA. My buddy and his 9yr old son are putting a dent in the population so far this year. I havent even had a chance to go yet. They doubled up opening weekend, then this past, son took two with one shot, then Dad took another as well.

I went this past weekend at my buddys house and the only time the birds gobbled was in the roost. We saw a bunch of them they didnt want anything to do with me and my buddy.
