Installed Redline hood assist in both the '08 Taco and SWMBO's '04 Rav4.
Fucked up and the drill dinged the top of the hood on her rearmost holes... she hasn't noticed and I'm not talking.

Came in and got cleaned up, she pops the front door open and says FedEx is here.
Went back out and "installed" a pair of factory floor mats to replace the $40 "Eco-Friendly" mats that I bought at Pep Boys that have already worn through under my heel in less than 6,000 miles.

Fuck "Eco-Friendly" bullshit... How "Eco-Friendly" is it when I have to buy more and the old ones end up in the landfill?

Installed my Brute Force Fab rear bumper and green shackles. Sorry for the crappy phone pic.

"Fucked up and the drill dinged the top of the hood" X2. Did the same. My problem was I didn't read the directions. I was under the impression that I was a real man and real men don't read directions. Oh well, they work great.

    LOL

Well... There was no way that wrapping tape around the drill would have prevented this.

I had no problem on the Taco or on her top holes. The steel is thin enough I could probably punch through it with my knife.
But the holes closest to the hinge, the steel was heavier at that point, so it took a fair amount of pressure, and when it broke through it grabbed and there was no stopping it.

The only thing that would have prevented it would have been an actual drill stop collar.

Also, what the instructions don't mention is that you have to REMOVE the stock hood holder on the Rav. On the Taco, it lays across the radiator support, but on the Rav, it runs along the 45 degree support behind the left headlight. It "hinges" from the fender and clips by the radiator.

The hinge is 1" behind the front mount for the Redline strut, so it can't go over the strut, and the strut closes too low to put it under the strut.

Interesting the geometry on the struts.
On the Taco, the fender mount is back by the firewall and the hood mount is about 18" forward of the hinge.
On the Rav, this is reversed... the hood mount is only a few inches above the hinge, and the body mount is right behind the headlight housing.

Its a cat back Flowmaster super 40 with double wall stainless oval tips. Not sure on the brand or anything on the tips though. Its what the exhaust shop had that I liked. They look similar to the TRD tips though. Soon to be painted black with some high heat paint I think.

In a way I was lucky. Since the hood is the thickness of aluminum foil and I have a bunch of acorn dings that are reminiscent of a golf ball the drill ding is not noticeable.

Got lots done today, diff breather mod, and installed the 5100 rear shocks. I just had the shocks laying around as i never put them in when i did the fronts, good thing i did too. My stock rear passenger shock was done for, that would explain the clunking noise i was hearing. Also helped a buddy fit up and weld on his sliders on his 4runner.

Currently re-doing my headlights. Sealant didn't seal good the first time, water got in, just took them out ( which isn't fun with a 3 hoop plate bumper ) And finished the driver side.
