if you had to choose, which one would you prefer. Ive seen a lot of 125s hanging with the 250s. Im going to be in the market for a new dirt bike soon and would like the pros and cons of each.

id like a honda or yamaha

im 5'7" and 150 lbs. I have a fully built kx100 and its too small for me now

    i also ride a honda 440ex

I have an RM125 and a KX450...the 125 is my weekend warrior...it's got a lot of aftermarket stuff and keeps up and beats a lot of the 250's....it's not slow at all. If you're good with a bike, you can make it work wonders... :) all i can say about the yz125, my friend has one...and there's no way in hell he can keep up with my 125...

very, i rode for about 80 miles...standing on a dirt bike for that amount of time is no fun...and a 1 liter water jug on your bag will last you 10 mins...freakin trophy trucks not obeying the "honk, ill wait for your signal and you to move out of the way so i can pass you" rule...scary shit man...it sucks in all reality...haha...i couldn't wait for the next rider to take that stupid bike away from me...i hated it. and couldn't walk for like two weeks...yeah, i wasnt't physically fit for that race...sad to say, but we didn't finish...he had like 120 miles to go...it was everyones first time...so $1600 bucks out the drain..haha...the parties after were hella sick tho...

As long as it's 2001 or older. But then again, the new YZ250s, and especially KTM250's destroy the hondas simply due to the new technology.

All in all they're all good bikes and will serve you fine. I would make the jump to a 250 as long as you are riding that 100 to it's full potential.

do you have ANY idea what your saying? Honda was the first company to have fuel injected dirt bikes, steering stabalizers, and computer programmed chips for their bikes. then folowed kawai, then yami, then suzuki. ktm was way behind and still is .... we buy about 3-4 new bikes a year and have yet to have ANY problems with any of our bike and we race a lot. two of us ride in the expert class and the other 2 ride novice. i will give it to kawi, they have the best looked bikes. and now the best rated bike for 2012....

alright alright I thought we were talking 2 strokes here...

I'll admit the the new honda 4 strokes are some of the best, my brother had an '07 CRF250R for a few years and that thing was soooo nice to ride. I just don't like the 4 strokes.

I had a '02 KX125 for 4 years and raced it in harescrambles for one year. It never once let me down even after one extremely long sand hill climb in a race that killed multiple 250f's due to overheating. My bike was blowing steam out the vents but never died lol.

honda has had the number one rated bikes from 2002-2011 and kawi took the poll in 2012 because they changed their frame which changed the handling for the better...
