If I had a place to put it, I could have been assisting you with this. I really want to get my first bike.

Screw you, apartment, hater of fun.

ya i pretty much want the 450 for a dune bike. haven't done much trail riding since i left Tillamook but i'll be back in portland in june so it'll probably change. lately just been enjoying my gsxr600

you could always get a cover and an alarm and stow it on your back porch haha. or stick it in your living room and look like a bad ass when friends come over

So random thought...you guys are planning in meeting at the little campground. But, I know forbade fact not all the campers will fit, nor the people just meeting up. Perhaps, camping the flats would be a better option.

I'm not sure what campground would be most accommodating for this, as I've never been down there. I was planning on going to the Derrick Rd. Campground that Mountainwolfpup recommended. Sounds like it is big, flat, and dry (just how I lke my women ;) ) with room in between sites. It would be a good idea to get this worked beforehand though, since us campers are probably gonna wnat to be near eachother for eating, drinking and hanging out and still be close to the meeting area for everyone else. Input???

Derek road is a good spot but if the weathers nice and were not all there by Thursday it usually fills up with people pretty quickly

That's what happened last time. No spots in that area. If someone can get their early Friday they might have a chance. If not the CG by the parking lot is a choice, or the flats.

I guess I'll just have to play it by ear. I most likely won't get there until after 9:00, so I will just have have to "check-in" with the other guys to see if they nailed down a big enough area. I'm gonna get online today and check out the options, and possibly reserve one.

Definitely set up maybe a special meet time. Say... if some people wont be their till late, maybe have a meet time at the market on the corner around 930-10pm. That way if knowone funds each other or the site is somewhere else, knkwone will be alone. Since theirs no cell service their.

So since the sand is going to be wet, is it going to be like quicksand?

I think the sand will be hard unless there is water draining into the ocean (stay away)

There is a pretty good description in the video info here

I like that idea, since I'm basically going into this blindly. Meet at the corner store (HERE) @ 9:30-10:00?

If anyone gets there early enough to snag a good size campsite, big enough for 3-4 trucks and 3-4 tents (I'm guessing 6-7 of us on Friday?) I will be sure to pitch in on the fees whatever they may be.

Hopefully on Saturday morning, we can all meet at the dunes, and come back to the campsite that evening to chill-out around the fire and BS.

    Campground Info:
    Derrick Road Campground
    West Winds Campground
    Sand Beach Campground (temp. closed???)
    East Dunes Campground

Also, I called some of the local stores, and regardless what state your coming from or vehicle class (Class-II for our trucks), the OHV Permit is $10.50. Just make sure you have your vehicle info (VIN, Title, Reg.)

Here's a list of the local merchants that sell OHV Permits:

    Back Country Cafe
    (503) 392-3901
    34445 Hwy 101 S
    Cloverdale 97112

    Bear Creek Artichokes
    (503) 398-5411
    19175 Hwy 101 S
    Cloverdale 97112

    Fox Grocery and Firearms
    (503) 398-5595
    24750 Hwy 101 S
    Cloverdale 97112

    South County Towing
    (503) 392-3122
    34560 Hwy 101 S
    Cloverdale 97112

Please chime in so we can get our camping situation organized, that way no one gets stressed out, left out, or stuck camping alone....

I think someone will be able to winch you out without any problems. Last time I went there I never really got stuck as long as I locked the rear;)
