Called local dealer yesterday about the Harsh Ride TSB. Droping the yota off Monday during lunch for and evaluation? He said that he had to check and make sure that my truck was eligible for the TSB? Has anyone else ran into this from a dealer?

its extremely common. If you do a search for rear suspension TSB you will get tons of results.....

A few additions to make me feel cool.
Your response to the dealer should be as follows: "Well I believe you have my vin # but if not here it is. That should provide you all the information you need for qualification. As far as anything else such as putting weight in the bed or any of that BS I have a copy of the TSB and it clearly states that if the customer makes the complaint then the work is to be done at the expence of Toyota at any authorized dealer. Then ask if you need to contact Toyota or if he has a time that you can drop it off!"

That's exactly what my dealer told me. Dropped it off and 3 hours later I
received the call saying parts were ordered. They kept it overnight and was done by noon the next day. They told me he had to look at it and was not allowed to just order parts without seeing it.

By the way, I stopped in to make the initial appt. and had a copy of the TSB in hand. They wanted to know where I got it.

Ok this is driving me crazy. I hate all these abbreviations. So what does TSB stand for and why is it such a big deal. I tried reading the posted link and I assume that it means toyota safety bulletin. What does this have to do with suspension? If you have tampered with the suspension (putting on a leveling kit) does it still need to be done?

Technical Service Bulletin. It's not a recall so it's not guaranteed that they'll replace it. It's a replacement of the stock shocks with TRD shocks (if your truck is non-TRD Access or Doublecab) and the rear leaf springs. If your truck is a TRD, they only replace the stock leaf springs: 3 pack to a 4 pack. The stock trucks are known for bottoming out in the back (hits the bump stops). Mine would do it unladen over a curb. It doesn't need to be done unless you're bottoming out. On mine it firmed up the rear and raised it about 1".

Just dropped my '09 off with the printed TSB that had one of the 5 digit sequences in my Vin# and the older part # pieces, not the TSB leaf part #s.
We'll find out sometime tomorrow morning if the dealer will do the TSB and order the parts.

Got my TSB completed today- wow what a difference, rides so much better and feels much more stable. The tech told me they also replaced shocks and adjusted the alignment. I'm happy!
