    He worked for state forestry agencies in Colorado and Kentucky and maybe Idaho (not sure. That was before my time). Now he does forestry research at a university.

    Right now I do not care for the Lower Bakken shale. It is my least favorite formation. It is not my friend. I am never supposed to see it. And I have two samples of it sitting on my desk.

    Both the upper and lower shales are outside our target zone; we drill the sandstone in between. Also they are bad to drill in because the drill bit and pipe tend to get stuck.

    We tried, and somehow lost inclination. Not sure what happened there. Our night Directional Driller keeps saying he's getting fired over it but it really wasn't his fault. Everyone actually did their jobs as best they could have. Sometimes things just go wrong anyway.


    Wait... nevermind. I'm a geologist. I should blame the directional driller on general principle.
