    Hi everyone,

I have a 1998 tacoma and want to upgrade from the crappy plastic stock bumper. I like the look of plate steel, but arb is just so heavy (and pricey). I don't really want 200 lbs of steel hanging off the front of the truck.

Does anyone have any good suggestions for plate type bumpers that are decent (it doesn't take much to improve on the stock) at least half the weight of arb (maybe 100 lbs or less).

I dont want a winch, but the option later might be nice.

    thanks!

I'm guessing that's going to be hard to find. Steel weighs a lot more than plastic.

Relentless or Elite Fab? Not sure about the 1st gen bumpers but Relentless's 2nd gen front steel ones are 90 something pounds and I think the Aluminum is 50? Could be wrong but I believe it is in that range. Sick looking bumpers too by both of them

iirc...elite makes an aluminum version of their plate bumper. Either them or relentless...

Unfortunately the lead time for relentless is ridiculous, five months to get a bumper.

tube bumpers are pretty good. they do some protection too. look into them.

some? Tube bumpers are much, much stronger than stock....sure they may not have the coverage/protection that a plate unit has...but plenty of strength for sure

    Stock right now.
Like you, I didn't like the stock flimsy bumpers either. I bought a rear bumper, then a front bumper and finally a tube tailgate (original stolen) from Brian at streetacos.com.
