    Are you jacking up on your lca's or skid? Make sure your lca's are at full drop. You can also pull down on the uca to get more slack.

    You can either do what i said or take the uca off. Sometimes the uca's on our old trucks are a bitch to get off.

    i cant punch it out cuz there is so much force on it from being in such an odd angle
    the top uca bolt isnt popping through, how do you free that?

    k so once the strut is off the spring in the strut is still under load right? so you have to have it compressed to release the top nut to remove the shock from the spring? that would be a problem cuz the spring compressor does not fit

    Not sure if i read correct, but just undo the 4 top plate bolts and it slides out. DO NOT REMOVE THE CENTER STRUT BOLT YET. Once you have the whole assembly out you can use the spring compressor.

    Mark, this is the nut that Adam was talking about. DO NOT remove the center nut at the top of the shock. That will release the coil spring.

    Our 95-97 trucks have a larger nut with a cotter pin. A lot harder to remove.

    Yeah, mine did too. Mine had a castle type nut with a cotter pin thru/between the uprights. this was the only pic I had that was handy that differentiated between the UCA/BJ nut and the top strut nut.

    btw, I think there are only 3 strut assembly nuts on top, not 4. The 4th is the spring plate retainer that holds the spring onto the shock.
