well its 1:30, we have been at it since 11am and my friends went home and we had to call it a night with one strut sort of assembled. the 3 top plate bolts are about 20 degrees from being lined up with the bottom eye of the shock, so in other words when the bolts are in the spring cup the shock does not fit straight in with the shock mound and holes. and the strut seems too tight to twist around to being in line. i know tomorrwo the other strut is going to shucks or something to get compressed because the hand one just isnt worth it. i didnt think the front was going to be this much work, but its certainly a PITA. thanks for all the help errbody! thanks adam for giving me a call man! its so much easier to just talk, this typing stuff is nonsense.



also i have no idea what my friend was posting for the last 7 or so pages. all i saw was the pictures. it might have been bad

at least with the 5100s i wont get ridiculed by 2/3 of the people on this forum for my lift.

lol they aren't bad shocks. They actually are nice considering. My fronts are perfectly fine, which makes me think that i have a filament issue.

im not sure, but i think my gf is pissed because i told her i cant hang out right now, the front suspension of my truck is apart and i really need to fix that.

 

REAL QUICK, before i start. anyone have an idea how to get the top plate bolts to line up in their holes so the bottom of the shock lines up with the holes in the bracket? its off by about 30 degrees

spin the shock until it lines up simple

the bolts are in the top plate holes, and if you can see, the bottom of the shock is out of line with the mount.

 

the coil wont rotate around on the strut. its not actually bolted up, im just holding it. yes the coil is on the right direction lol. it would be obvious if i put the wrong end on the spring perch

 

nvm. all good. i just had to rotate the top shock bolt and rotate the rubber top plate at the same time to get thebolts in the right spot

 

I meant spin the shock not the coil.. The rod part of the shock spins freely.

What setting do you have the 5100's at?

 

k so question. to put the strut back in, bolt the bottom in, then stuff the top in? for that we have to remove the uca bolt, which refuses to move. i beat all around the uca with a hammer up and down and jumped on the brake pushing it up and down and it refuses to come out.
