You're right, we could go on and on. And you're also right, I should have said that I don't push religion on anyone. There are many christians and denominations that try to push religion on people.

What I should say is that there are few people who live according to the bible and follow what Christianity really is. People get confused as the mass of christians blend with society, continually conform to it and then those that don't believe in God look at those "christian's" and say, 'why would I want to be like them? They do the same things I do and I see no benefit.' It's just the truth as so many christian's are hypocrites, and I will be the first to admit that I have been guilty of this before. Real christian's don't follow the bible because it's law. They follow because they love Jesus and they don't even need to preach or say anything as their actions will speak louder. Maybe they don't cuss, or maybe they refrain from certain activities, it doesn't matter. Christianity is more than, oh God saved me and now I'm free! See that's where christian's fall. They take grace for granted and forget everything else. God does have a law, and although people love to read all the nice verses, John 3:16 etc, God clearly points out that there are consequences for our actions. The nice thing is, we all have a free choice to make. At one point or another, we will have have a chance to either reject God, or accept Him. We will all pick a side, I just know where I stand.

Not trying to spark any fires here, I love you all! And I love tacoma's :D

Let the guy morn the way he wants to. It has a base in old time religion. He might have of put coins on it's eyes. People do crazy things when they do not understand what is happening. And that's fine. If it is part of their religion then no problem. But when religion becomes a crutch or an excuse.. That's when it becomes a problem.

X1,000,000 on letting people grieve in their own way. Everyone grieves differently, and the loss of a child is particularly difficult. My mom's family braids a dead woman's hair and cuts off the braid. To me it's a rather macabre souvenir of watching my grandmother die. But it made my aunt feel better and who am I to say she shouldn't do it? It doesn't harm me. Whether or not I like Santorum's politics is 100% beside the point here; if that's how he feels comfortable mourning a child, its just not for anyone else to tell him no. He's not harming anyone by bringing that baby home to say goodbye.

    *traumatic

You can not say this with 100% accuracy. And even if true, why does it bother others if one finds comfort in faith?

    Also, I'll add...

Life...is a traumatic experience. Hence, the birth of Christianity.

    YMMV

I'm not even religious and I think that's an absurd argument. Lots of people find religion through non-traumatic ways. Some of my very best friends take their faith very seriously and attempt to live out what they believe God's love should be about. Sometimes that means they love me in spite of our religious differences; it's all good because sometimes they drive me nuts with their religious views. We don't and probably never will agree on religion and that's ok.

Hold on a second, don't generalize and base this off of stereotypes, ask George Zimmerman how that turns out. I am Catholic, I'm not what the church would call a model citizen, but I believe the fundamentals. I do believe 100% in science; and in some weird way they are all intertwined.

Back to your statements above. Just because some religions push their beliefs, don't generalize to say that all religions and faiths are pushy. What I hate more than any atheist who spends their time trying to convince religious people that there is no God, is religious people pushing their beliefs on others. Believe what you want and stop trying to convince people otherwise, that goes for Atheists and the Religious alike.

No one knows who is right for sure, scientific evidence has more proof; again, I think they are somehow intertwined in one big jumble. If you want to know something about my religion ask, likewise I will check with you when I have questions. To sum it up, even religious people hate pushy people.

(Oh, and actually don't ask me, I don't want to convert anyone, you can go talk to the church if you are interested)

Luckily though there is science and from that logicians have been able to prove that there is no benefit to believing in a god. But anyway, it not like there is some crazy religious person at every college campus trying to recruit students, right?

I am a Christian, but not exactly conventional, I like to take more of the spiritual meaning from the Bible, not take everything literally or skew my own interpretation on it way out of line, mainly for the fact that the Bible has been around a long time, leaving the corrupt mankind to alter it to their pleasing, or to benefit.

I don't like to force views on others. And I mean no offense to those who dislike religion or whoever else could possibly be offended, but if you want to find your means of "God", even if that means the lack thereof, then that is your own journey. But for where I am in my own life I could not be more beyond satisfied.

I hate those idiots too, just as much as the idiot standing next to them holding the sign that God doesn't exist. Not because I disagree with either but simply because they are pushing their beliefs on others. Either way they are trying to force someone to believe something when clearly people have made up their own minds either way.

As far as the logicians, there may not be any benefit here, but how do they know about the after life? Ultimately here on Earth there may be no benefit, but I'm not sure there is any evidence either way as to whether we have souls and what happens to them. It is all just a matter of opinion after that.
