This looks like the way to go for me. Just enough lift without making the stock tires look bad. Plus add a little capacity to the truck and screw the TSB. The price is cheap enough for sure. Any downside to this? I really believe that a 3" lift will make my stock tires a little bit out of place.

I'm certainly not an expert, but research the quality of the material being used.

Actually its not my Tacoma. I drive an F150 FX4 reg. cab short-bed.
Its my wife's.:D She won't let me even smoke in it. Yet ,that is.

Anyway, whats out there that would give me 2-2.5" max lift w/o breaking the bank?

People are gonna say bilstein 5100s for fronts. Adj lift with stock coils. I think I'm gonna end up with 5100s all around with toytec tsb AAL to get me about 2" up front & end up with about 1" out back.

This is the route I think I am going to go as well. 5100's on all sides with a rear AAL.

My only concern is that I already got the TSB pack on my rear and adding a leaf may make it TOO stiff. I don't mind a slightly rougher ride but I do use this as my family daily driver.

Is the Toytec TSB AAL for those of us who already have the TSB completed on the rear?

There are 2 different TT AAL, w & W/o the TSB. I just did the TT AAL for the TSB, w/ the OME shocks. With the TSB, the ride was more firm than stiff. Not much difference with the AAL.

Knowing what I know now, I would have skipped the TSB & done just the AAL.

What are you putting up front?

Whats the difference between the OME shocks and the 5100's?

I was going to put the 5100's front and rear and a TT TSB AAL. May set the front to 2.5 and hope it's level (or raked a bit forward).

I was just gonna set the front to 1.75 or 2 & the 1.5 tsb AAL will settle from what other's have said so net gain on back should just be 1" & no wavy gravy nonsense from the non tsb 3 leaf packs. Also may go with timbrens out back to handle any towing or loads depending on how the AAL helps. Got my TSB 1.5 AALs & u bolts today. Waiting on longer center pins to show up. I have TRD bilsteins & 1.5 spacers. Tempted to just go with that up front since I don't plan on doing any baja offroad action but some of the stuff I'm hearing makes me wanna go with 5100s instead. My question is would the ride be better with the spacer & shock not being disturbed so the factory ride wouldn't be stiffened up & shock travel be same vs. preload the spring on the 5100 for lift & stiffer ride? But still the ball joint wear issue is pushing me towards 5100s. Again, this is 2wd & not gonna see any crazy offroad stuff, mostly want the 285/60/18s that came on the truck to not rub up front. No flaps & trimmed already. On a nothing to do with anything note, the silver 5100s would go better with my truck than the yellow/blue does, lol.

There's nothing wrong with that lift. Quite a few folks are using that with no problems. There's also nothing wrong with a top mount spacer. Matter of fact, everybody talks about Bilsteins but they're nothing more than a spacer lift themselves.

Top plate spacers can damage ball joints, and shocks. They lengthen the shock/spring assembly wich can cuase the shock to over extend, and will over stress the ball joint. Your correct on the 5100's, but they are valved for the preloaded spring rate.

ToyTec says their spacer kits don't cause any stress. Are they full of sh#t ???
This is a copy of their FAQ off their web site................

Frequently asked questions -Choose your model
    05-09 Tacoma

    Q. Do I need the diff drop kit on my 2006 4x4 Tacoma?
Y/N? The diff drop kit does lessen the angles on the axles, not a bad addition.

    Q. Can I Use your 3" lift front spacers with the 3" coil kit for 6" Total lift?
NO, you cannot. 3" is the maximum front lift on these vehicles without replacing, or lowering the entire front cross member. The control arms, ball joints and Cv axles will not allow more lift.

    Q. Do I need longer shocks with your 3" kit?
No, The stock shocks work exceptionally well on the 2005-2007 Tacoma trucks. We do stock several longer rear shocks for optimum flex, and performance off road if desired. Kits with front coils will benefit from the use of OME front shocks, they are designed to match the front coils.

    Q. Can I use shackles or add-a-leafs on the rear for lift?
No, You cannot use shackles on the 2005 - 2007 Tacoma trucks, their rear spring mounts do not allow standard "bolt on" shackle designs to work. We recommend the longer rear Alcan add-a-leafs for rear lift. The ride is not too firm, and the extra load capacity is nice.

    Q. Will the kits you offer "level" my truck?
Yes, our 3" complete front and rear kits are designed to level your truck, by lifting the front 3" and the rear 2" . The 2 1/2" kits will leave the rear slightly higher like stock.

    Q. What size tires can I run on stock wheels with the 3" kit?
We have not tested every wheel/tire size on these trucks, but 265/75/16 tires are about the largest for the 2005-2007 trucks, on stock wheels. The back spacing, and distance of the tire to suspension components is very close on the front end.

    Q. What size tires can I run on a 16x8" wheel?
With 4" or 4.5" back spacing we have several trucks running 285/75/16 tires, but they may rub on the front depending on wheel width, and back spacing. We do not guarantee any tire/ wheel fitment and recommend you have your tire dealer install and "test fit" any wheel tire combination you are considering

    Q. What is the difference between the coil kits, and the spacer lifts?
The kits with coils in the front can be a better option for some trucks. The ride on the 05-07 Tacoma trucks with spacers only in front is not firmer than kits with coils, contrary to belief . On some models spacers only may actually ride softer. Either will be slightly firmer than stock . The kits with OME front coils will give the best ride when used with the OME shocks too. There are different coils available for handling the weight of an aftermarket bumper and or winch, so if you have a bumper and or winch, or are planning on adding one the kits with coils would be the best option.

    Q. Is there more stress on front end components (CV axles, joints, and ball joints) if I use your lift with spacers only and not coils?
No, this is a common misconception that is completely false, neither our spacers or kits with front coils cause more stress or wear on front end components than the other. There are however other manufacturers spacers we have seen that will cause problems if too much spacer is over the top plate of the shock.....

    Q. Will I need an alignment after the lift?
Yes, you will need an alignment after the lift install. We recommend the Camber be set to zero and toe .04 degrees

    Q. Will the installation of a lift Void my warranty?
The installation of a lift will not Void the warranty. Coverage on any part that is proven to be damaged as the result of a lift or any condition caused by the install of a lift can be denied for coverage though. There is more warranty information on our Warranty page:

If they use a 1.5" top plate spacer, then, Yes, their product is no different than the other top plate spacers that have broken shocks and worn out ball joints.

There shouldn't be any problems under 3".

BTW Chris, what route would you go with a lift? I'm talking about under $300.

I'm looking for the same thing...a 2-3" lift for under $300.

But she may be used off road (lightly) so I need a decent setup.

How do the Bilstein 5100 shocks provide lift without affecting spring travel which would stiffen ride? Seems the spacers just shim the truck up while maintaining factory suspension characteristics.

Also, how would ToyTec say that their spacers don't damage front end components without opening themselves up to lawsuits?

I'm just trying to learn, thats all.
