    Hi,
This is my first post here. :)
I think Im ready to pull the trigger on a 2012 dclb trd sport 4x2, and Ive been searching this site for several months gathering info.
Learned a LOT so far, but want to know what mechanical differences there are between the V-6 trucks, besides the obvious (front end, radio and interior).
I understand there must be some engine (air recirc pumps?) and suspension changes. Hood scoop looks different too. What exactly are the differences?

    Thanks

Was the stereo in the 2011 better? I know the 2012 stereo sounds WAAAAAY better than my 2008's did...

there are some minor routing differences under the hood, possibly just to facilitate the front end changes, but enough that the intakes that fit 05-11's don't work w/ the 12

    wow
10 replys in about 15 minutes!
This is a very active site.
I am especially interested in the pollution stuff under the hood and any significant suspension changes. And exactly what those changes do.
Any reduction in hp from the recirc pump?

details on the smog pump then and why they needed it? I guess the feds keep tightening emissions requirements. Seems to me this engine isnt exactly highly tuned.
All we need is another belt driven pump to complicate things. I like having lots of room to work.

2012's have Trailer Sway Control as well that 05-11's don't and the rear view mirror has 3 Homelink buttons (garage door openers)

so its not belt driven. I assume its for egr, to recycle "dirty" exhaust gases. What else could it be for?
I read the backup camera image is bigger in the rear view mirror?
I'm not interested in the entune. Base radio seems fine for me. If I ever need the nav I'll use my phone, or I can go aftermarket for a LOT less money.
I use xm radio now and like it. With ipod integration too, what else would you need for tunes?

btw, Im selling my srt-10. Owned it 4 years, and its too nice a truck for my current uses. Im a realtor and building contractor, and now that I am actually picking up a few tools again due to the economy, and hauling stuff around for the first time in 5 years, I thought it would be best to sell the srt while its still in excellent condition and fairly low miles. The long bed taco should foot my bill.

After looking at a lot of used 09-11 tacos I realized why not pay a couple thousand more for brand new. This truck holds its value incredibly well.

Additionally, the TRD sport comes with new mirrors, also all 12's have an improved rear view camera display. The front end change is the main selling point (I'd guess) for the 12's. While the changes are minimal, I'm really pleased with them.

    thanks,
I love your truck. I love the storm trooper look actually, though it will be a work truck so dont want to go overboard with any cosmetics. Just removing badges and decals and maybe powdercoat the 17's.
I also like the silver, which stays clean looking a lot longer. Never getting another black truck. Looks dirty the day after I wash it no matter what.
White or silver is the only choice I havent made yet.
White is a great work truck color, but gets dirty too easily...Im obviously not an offroader. Just want a professional truck that serves my purposes.

Nice rides brutha. I got a dodge too....kinda like your SRT10, except blue/white and smaller. My truck is a work truck too. It's quickly turning into a money-pit since I'm chronic on this site. Browser beware....viewing TW too frequently results in a much lighter wallet. LOL

I know this is off-topic, but what does this mean?

I hear a lot of people complaining saying how bad the economy is, but when pushed a lot (not all, just a lot) of them don't and/or can't explain what they mean by that.

I'm not saying that you're wrong, I'm just curious what this means to people because I don't get it.
My wife and I are making more, with better health care, retirement, benefits and enjoying our jobs than we ever have in the previous 20 years. (I'm in IT, she's a geologist)

    (and no, this is bait....)

Just found out about the 2013. Big changes[maybe] unless confirmed, I really dont know. Just saw one blurry photo. If true, I will wait and buy a 2013. Looking at the Jks, but new one comming out in 2014. Saw the new tacoma 13 and the Jk is history.

The "big" change coming in late 2013 for the 2014 model year is the addition of direct injection to the V6 and probably the I4 as well.

If they got that I4 up to 187hp (as it is in the Highlander) I'd be all over it.
