I bought my 2006 Toyota Tacoma in July of 07.
I looked at a bunch of Tacomas, I didn't want to buy new but only a year or so old.
All the ones I looked at, they looked like they had been drug without wheels across assphalt:eek:
So I bought one some guy put big spinners on and fancy running boards with duel exhaust, I figure that truck has never seen dirt.
I took all that off & now I'm happy. This truck has never let me down, great little truck & alot better gas milage than my F250 which was 9 mpg.
I take it mostly on dirt back roads for fishing, Rappelling & my RC comp rigs.
Thinking about putting some 17" on it, just to lift it a tad, clear some of those bigger rocks:D
    Great forum BTW

Enjoy our forums, but FYI I wouldn't put on bigger rims to clear bigger rocks. Get a slight lift - I have a 3" OME lift, and 285's - 33" tires. Bigger tires will help more than bigger rims ;).

Besides, you throw some 17's on there and you will pay more for every set of tires!

Can I get away from the lift and just get the 33"?
BTW how much was the 3" lift, if you don't mind me asking

nevermind I just did a search and found it

You could probably stuff 33's w/o a lift, but there will be A LOT of cutting/chopping. Probably not worth it.

If you're just doing back country roads, you don't really need a lift/bigger tires. The stock Tacoma is really quite capable, just be careful where you place your tires if you don't have armor.

Thank you for the info, maybe I'll just get some armor then. In the 5 years I have had it now, I scrapped the bottom only twice...and it was a wussy scrape anyhow:rolleyes:
    thanks again
