Alot of things can happen. But by blocking him, I don't think her intentions where to hurt him, untill he decided to kick her car.

You decided to punch a windsheild, if the guy had a heart attack cause of the sudden stress and dies, maybe you didn't mean to kill him, but you did.

It doesn't matter, it was not me or my wife. But just don't touch my shit, and everything is ok with me.

So are you saying you would try to run a biker over if they kicked your car?

It's hard to say really. The video starts pretty late into the incident. It almost looks to me like something happened before what we're seeing which caused the driver taping the video to turn it on. Who knows what happened to spark it all. I've split before and some people will move over to prevent you from going around them. It's not a big deal to me unless you're right next to them and they're trying to squeeze you on purpose. Then it's assault with a deadly weapon.

Splitting lanes as far as I know is only legal in California. Any other state the motorcycle rider would probably get a ticket for it.

No, but I'm not a female who may feel threatend by him. I would get out yank his helmet off and see how tough he is. Then I would run over his bike. :D

And before someone takes me wrong, I respect people on motorcycles. I leave plenty of room when I'm behind one, and have no problem with them on the road. But if your an asshole, your an asshole, on a bike or in a car.

In some states, such as California, Lane splitting like that is legal and therefore she is in the wrong for trying to cut him off.

What's the big deal with him cutting ahead? It doesn't affect the other driver one bit. They're still in the same position whether he splits or not. What gives him the right is that in some places it's legal and it's usually safer for the bike to split than to sit in traffic.

    This ^^

I hate when bikers act like they own the road, can do whatever they want, or their "right of way" means they can do dumb shit. The reality is I have 2 tons of material protecting me if I hit/run over a biker (intentionally or accidentally). What does a biker have? Some leather and pads if they're lucky? So maybe it's best not to ride like an asshole. Self preservation instincts and all that. The law won't prevent you from becoming hamburger even if it's on your side (right of way, my fault, whatever).

That's like saying a smart car has the right of way over a semi, but that don't mean shit if a smart car gets pancaked between 2 of them. Driver is still dead regardless of the law(s).

I agree with this, but people get butthurt in traffic. Pittsburgh is and is know for being one of the most courteous cities around, people hold dorrs for one another and whatnot all day long, that is until it comes to driving. LOL, not so nice. And people get mad when they are sitting in traffic and someone gets ahead. If its in a bike or a car.
    Agree with this.

And there is a reason its not legal in most states for bikers to do this, its mostly for there own safty, they go zooming up in between cars and say someone swings open a door, party is over.

I ride, as many also do. I feel both the rider and the cage was in the wrong. The rider should never/ever engage in a confrontation with a car. We are way too vulnerable. The cage was also in the wrong for using her car as a weapon.

Where it is legal to lane split, there are rules to follow, but they are very grey.

Generally speaking, it is not legal to split when traffic is going more than 35mph. It is also not safe to do so, and that is where many m/c riders take advantage of the situation, and give all bikers a bad rep. There is simply no reason to split on the freeway when traffic is moving at a good clip.

It is also not legal for bikers to split going more than around 10-15mph faster than traffic. For example, illegal for bikers to split going 50mph when traffic is sitting still.

Anyways, back on topic... How bout some crazy lean angles, and no he didn't go down.

Actually that's wrong. It's much safter to move between the cars than it is to sit in traffic, especially with cell phone drivers. It greatly reduces the chance of a rear-end collision. NHTSA said as much in the Hurt Report, which is usually cited for making helmets mandatory.

According to Hurt, "It's actually the safest place for motorcycles to be on the freeway"
"The visibility you get in between the lanes is a major factor,'' he said. Lane splitting increases the chance of a side impact, but Hurt said those are less dangerous than rear-end collisions on a motorcycle. Riders should watch the front wheels of vehicles ahead of them as they cut through traffic to make sure no one is about to change lanes, and they also shouldn't drive faster than about 20 mph. ``If you do that, you are in pretty good shape,'' he said.

In most states it makes people mad because it's not legal and they have a 12-year-old concept of it being unfair (if I have to sit here, so do you). Those same people who complain about it would complain about someone driving the speed limit in the fast lane.

In California, it's pretty much accepted. Most people don't think twice about it. Occassionally there will be someone who will try and block you but for the most part people don't care.
