Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
Heading down to OBX Memorial Day Week for a family trip to celebrate my parents 40th Anniversary.

First off I was wondering if anybody had an idea for us to spend a night around Richmond/Mechanicsburg for a night. Believe we will be using I-295. My dad can only drive shorter distances, so we were going to stop around there, and finish the trip in the morning. We would need a 3 bedroom suite. My parents have AAA, but I like inside info. It might be a long shot asking, but can't hurt to try.

Also was just curious of any must see attractions. We will be staying in Nags Head. I want to spend a lot of my day fishing and relaxing. But we will see how that works out. Never surf fished, so it could be interesting. Thanks all for any info you can provide.

i live right outside richmond in short pump. its a nice little area. better than staying in richmond. down in nags head the wright brothers memorial is always nice. Dinning: Tortuga's, Kelly's, Bob's grill are three places i always go when in OBX and i go there A LOT in the summer. There is always something to do down there.

actually might be going there that weekend as well.

The airport has a bunch of new hotels, less than 3 years old... holiday inn, not express, hilton, double tree. For breakfast try to get to biscuits and porn around mile marker 9, main road its an old citgo station next to the ABC store.

Already booked a room. Not in richmond but close. I gotta write down these restaurants so I don't forget. My wife has a huge pile of stuff already set aside since we are driving the Tacoma. Hope the restaurant list doesn't get lost in it!

as far as attractions go, try to see some of the light houses. IMO i think they're pretty neat, also pony island or something like that. there is an island that has wild horses that have been living there for hundreds of years and you can go out there and see them. its been a while since i've been there so i can't remember anything else right now

Check out Owens. It's a pretty decent restaraunt (the kind with low candle light and $20-$40 per plate meals), there is also a place called Prime Only and another called JK's, both with really great steak and local sea food!... Traffic is going to suck there... Umm... other than that is is really just a beach town, check out the Wright Memorial, and don't buy tourist crap from the store called Wings. You can't miss them, there is one on every corner.

Stop by any local tackle shop and tell them you want to fish, buy a license, some fresh bait, and some drum rigs. Shop dude will point you in the right direction ;) Also you need to get a beach driving permit this year...

Somewhere in Nags Head I believe. We got offered a beach house for the weekend. Couldn't pass it up. I haven't been there in 20 years.

Honestly you have been told just about everything there is... it is a great place for relatively cheap and good sea food, there is the Wright Memorial, fishing is good, as are the beaches, but it is just so much of a hang out spot... one of those places that has one main road that everything is off...
