    Hi all,

New to the site. From south PA. I have an 2007 FJ but in just a few loooong weeks I will be a proud owner of a 2012 double cab 4X4 Taco. can't wait. My first Q: to you fine people is about side rails. This is my first new truck and I wan't better then stock side rails, the ones I like is the type that angle up. Now my Q: is do they add a little more protection against jack holes from banging into the doors with their doors? thanks for any info and looking forward to chatting with you all.

    Welcome to the site!

I don't know jack all about side rails, but to answer your second question, I guess it would depend on how high your side rails are. Too low and they of course wouldn't do dick!

I believe you are talking about sliders with the tilt up comment. Welcome to TW. They are made out of 1.75" .120 wall DOM. Yes they are strong. :)

Welcome to the club. If you're wanting the rails just for door ding protection then the factory rails work just fine. For off road protection get the sliders.

I want them for both reasons. I think I'll go for the sliders. Do you recommend any?

Search the forum. I haven't looked into any, I don't hard core off road so I haven't looked into them. I really like my factory rails for the door ding protection though.
