Coilover suspension questions

Hey everyone! I just recently bought an 02 tacoma pre runner and I am ready for some upgrades. I want to put better shocks and a higher lift up front. So I was wondering about using coilover suspension. My main concerns are what else would I have to buy to make it work well. I'm looking to get a 3" lift. Here are two kits i'm lookiing at and I was wondering if theres a diffrence between them besides price. Thanks.

For what's it's worth and what you'll pay for the Toytec coilovers I would just buy real coilovers. SAW RaceRunners are cheap, almost the same price. What I mean by a real coilover is one that is rebuildable/revalvable. When that Toytec one wears out it's garbage, throw it out and buy a new $800 pair. Real coilovers are rebuildable, you can revalve them, and replace parts if a piece of them breaks.

This is just my logic behind it, I thought it was kinda silly to spend that kinda money on a disposable part of the truck though when you can spend the same on something can be worked over multiple times and is race proven.

 

x2 they are still a nice product but i would go with a rebuildable coilover. Fox, SAW, icon, king

 

+1 on going with a rebuild able coilover. And look out for deals online. I just bought a set of donahoe (icon) coilovers off TTORA for $225. They need rebuilt....but...a deal nonetheless

 

For the price, I couldn't agree with them more! I have Toytec's and they're great but for that price I'd get a coilover for the reasons stated above plus they are vavled better IMO! Keep your eyes open for some cheap used ones and send them to DSM for a re-build and they'll be like new! SAW sells a 2" coilover for a slightly cheaper option!

I think these are tuned better for our trucks and excel over all others in offroad situations!

 

I hate to disagree, but you don't have to trash the toytec coilovers if the shocks wear out. They can be replaced if the springs are still useable.

 

Just curious but how much does the rebuild cost once the coilovers need it?

 

Roughly $100-$150 per side.

 

If I got some king or icon adjustable coilovers and set them around 3 inches would I need to get aftermarket ucas and lcas?

 

LCAs no....but on lifts over 2" new UCAs are preferred to correct castor angles due to the lift

 

Would these work for what i'm trying to do? or are they too long?

 

no, those are for a LT (long travel) kit.
