FWIW, When they arrest someone, they have a limited amount of time to compile evidence, and submit charges. By not arresting him right away, they either want more time to compile evidence, dont have enought to press charges, or he in fact is innocent of the acusations.

Well i know that much. I took a law class way back. In FL i cant remember, i think it's 72 hours, and 66 days or 100 later they must try you unless defense asks for a continuance?

Just stating that from a stupid teenager's perspective, if I didn't know Zimmerman was armed, he wouldn't be intimidating to me. I never mentioned anything about a gun or getting shot.

I think he should be charged and let the justice system take care of him. If he is found innocent, so be it. Although this guy is going to have a shitty rest of his life either way.

Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.
    This.

Let the system determine whether or not George was following at a safe distance and then Trayvon noticed him and turned it confrontational. If that really is the case, it will come out, however I'm not sure that is the case. As neighborhood watch George has self dubbed himself a police officer, he should have reported it to police and then gone about his business. I don't feel this should be covered under their self defense law unless above is what happened.

Hate crime? Anyone willing to commit a crime is equally bad, doesn't matter what their reasons.

After reading through the last 6 pages of this thread, I only see one point of contention on which the case will probably rest.

Many have stated that Zimmerman has the right to walk down the street and confront people he feels are acting suspiciously in his neighborhood. However, Martin also had the right to walk down the street unmolested. It is still a public street, and there are no reports that Martin was doing anything suspicious other than walking on the sidewalk and being black. (i.e. - looking in windows, walking across people's lawns, etc.)

Neither one of the men knew the other's background, so all that is moot (<--correct spelling/usage). It doesn't matter that Trayvon had school issues or Tweeted stupid things. Not pertinent to this place and time.

The trespassing allegations aren't apparently legit because; all the reports say Martin was walking on the sidewalk (public property), and a gated community is not private property. It just has an extra layer of security around it in the form of gates. So there are really no property-rights issues here.

Here's where the fill-in-the-blanks comes in. While Zimmerman has the right to look out for his community and neighbors, Martin also has the right to walk down a sidewalk without being questioned just on the color of his skin and attire -- especially while apparently engaging in no suspicious behavior.

If Zimmerman was intent on following Martin to make sure that he was behaving himself, he could have done so from his vehicle until Martin either reached his destination or violated a law or neighborhood code.

It's obvious, however, that Zimmerman did not do that and at some point exited his vehicle to confront Martin. Now, I don't know about you, but when someone who is obviously not LEO starts asking me pointed questions while I am just minding my business, they get the "go fuck yourself" pretty quickly. Especially if they have been following me for a while. I can see that happening in this case. Escalation. Altercation. You know how it ends.

The crux of my long-winded post is that while Zimmerman has rights to protect his neighborhood/neighbors, Martin has rights to walk down the street unquestioned. In this case, Zimmerman was in greater violation of Martin's rights.

If I have to wager a guess, I'd say that Zimmerman walks on self-defense, but ends up paying everything he has in a civil Wrongful Death ruling.

And in a rare moment of agreement with wileyC, I wholeheartedly agree that the mouthpieces need to shut the fuck up. They are not doing their cause any favors and are really, really annoying.

you're assuming that zimmerman confronted trayvon... zimmerman's story is trayvon confronted him, ..basically assaulted him... now, we don't know what happened, ..it will have to be pieced together from witness testimony, police observations, etc and any other evidence that turns up.. what we DO KNOW is that the LSM and the people out there (committing real crimes) tweeting addresses and encouraging retaliation/vigilantism, putting "bounties" on people (black panther thugs) DO NOT KNOW what happened... they've jumped the shark and latched onto a preconceived conclusion, and are trying to fabricate a story to support it... do we live in a country where everyone is innocent until proven guilty, ..or do we live under mob rule?

..it doesn't directly... all i am trying to do is point out what has been ignored intentionally by the LSM.. so, when we play devils advocate in hopes of giving zimmerman a fair shake, we can temper the shrieks of injustice and hateful rhetoric... the LSM has been peddling one side of the story, which is why their credibility is so questioned... quite frankly, it's downright infuriating...

what the tweets do show is that treyvon, at age 17 wasn't the sweet skittle-eating 9yr old little boy in the photo they cherry picked.. we must look at the characters and entertain the "what-ifs" and capability envelopes, ...treyvon as a tall 17 yr old was probably "capable" of inflicting harm, unlike the angelic propoganda being broadcast.. if he was engrossed in the thug culture that certainly would play into shaping ones demeanor... none of this is out of the realm of possibility...
