Is my taco off road capable?

    Well my truck is a 99 Sr5 prerunner and I'm not sure if it has a lift on it. But if its a stock prerunner is it capable of going off road like on the beach or something..ill put a picture of it tomorrow.

    Make sure you have good tires and drop the PSI a bit, do you have a locker? The beach shouldnt be a problem. I'd take a shovel, tire gauge and maybe a small compressor to be safe.

    Aggressive tires are actually worse in the sand.

    10 psi will usually work for 2WD and street tires (which are way better than mud tires in the sand).

    Is your truck a TRD Off Road? If not then you dont. Which still shouldnt be a problem on the beach.

    slow and steady on sand. just dont stop, then take off and dig yourself in a hole

    alot of metal, small engine, decent travel.
    caged, camburg long travel, 50t leafpack (soon to be installed) light rack over cab, 5pt harnesses etc
    make sure if you stop your vehicle is facing somewhat downward, and air down to 15 PSI.

    how are street tires better in sand than mud tires?

    SAND is crossed best by floating on top and not digging into.

    The smoother the tire, the less it digs.

    Street tires are smoother than off road or mud tires. All Terrain tires are a midway compromise.

    Lowering air pressure creates a bigger footprint and provides floatation.

    The more aggressive the tire (as in mud terrain tires) or the stiffer the sidewall (3 ply sidewalls) will require MORE air to be removed in order to float on sand as well as All Terrain or street tires with less air removed.

    and im thinking more surface tension and friction is better on sand. the more rubber to meet the loose sand the better. kinda the same theory as snow shoes or escaping quicksand.

    Limited slip systems will also improve the sand experience... as a spinning tire only DIGS you in deeper... If you stop moving forward (in sand) and gas it, you will only spin yourself DOWN. STOP and let MORE air out... remove any built up sand in front of the tires, and try again to move ahead. Repeat if necessary... There is a point where the amount of air removed will get you going, in sand.

    See the difference between 32 PSI and 15 PSI...
