    Hello,
Glad to hear about your better gas consumption on Premium fuel.. I must assume that you do mostly combined city and highway driving on observation? So with today's gas prices should come out to around $75-$78 a full tank and if driven daily, should more or less last a week which is not too bad..
    thx

For all California drivers, all fuel sold at the pump here is required by law to be 10% ethanol, it's right on the pump and is for all grades.

Higher octane ratings do not contain a higher stored energy value per volume, all it has is a higher resistance to detonation, this is for high compression or turbo/super charged aplications (hence the need to run 91 in the TRD S/C) it actually makes it harder for the engine to combust all the fuel sprayed in to the combustion chamber since we have a lower compresstion ratio (10:1). Run 87 in a stock truck, your truck does not run "happier" with premium and it is not "dirtier" or a lesser quality fuel than premium, you're wasting your money.

But at your location, fuel costs are as much as Metro Vancouver. And we have higher taxes.

True. Besides moving. :p But moving to the mainland may be pointless for gas, unless you're going to the interior.

Premium doesn't = better mpg than regular. However, ethanol = a decrease in MPG.

Therefore if you can get ethanol free in premium , you can get better mileage with premium over regular :)

Yea of course. Your more likely to see differences in regular between two different brands than differences between regular and premium in the same brand.

Times 2^ there is no more hydrocarbons or O2 in high test over regular regular, none. That is where the heat comes from. If you hear a "ping" in your engine you have a problem that is what a knock sensor is for. "Running high test the engine has less tick" pretty neat trick that fuel can cure lifter noise. Modern engine do not "carbon up". Engines can't be happy or sad. If you get better mileage with high test it's because you are trying to get better mileage.

I get 15 mpg with 87 and 17+mpg with 91 octane... seems a little silly to not use 91+ at this point.

And thats mix of city and freeway.

higher ocatane fuels contain better detergents, not because of the grade itself, but companies throw in more of the good stuff to lure you...so its wise to get a full tank of highest grade at least once a month

wish i could find one close to me. I have heard rumors that they are wanting to up the ethanol% in all fuels. This is especially bad for the 2 strokes
