Pioneer AVHP2400BT pre install questions

I finally decided on the head unit I want for my truck (07 non jbl), that being the AVHP2400BT by Pioneer. It seems to have great reviews and for the price, I think it will be a great fit.

My question is, what pre install issues am I inevitably going to run into?

Also, what will I need to order seperatly from my crutchfield order? I want the rear camera mod so that for sure I know I will need to order on the side. I keep seeing something about a parking break by-pass, whats the story there? Basically, I want to have everything I'm going to need all at once, I want it to be a one and done operation. Thanks!

 

You can either setup your own 12v relay switch for the parking brake bypass, or (which is the road I chose), buy a small pre-made one off Amazon for about $10. Comes with wiring instructions and is incredibly simple.

As for other parts. Crutchfield supplies the dash kit correct? I ordered from J&R and picked up a metra dash kit separately. Fit great, but had to shave a few plastic tabs down a bit.

 

I just installed the same deck with the OEM camera this weekend. It's pretty straight forward. Crutchfield gives you everything you need. If you want to install the parking bypass, you can buy one off ebay/Amazon as CascoYota said, or make one yourself which is really easy.

 

I just install the same unit on my 2011 acces cab, and i'm loving it!!! it improve the sound by lots with the stock speakers.. I'm now looking to buy the by-pass so that i can watch videos, then maybe put on a sub!!
also do you guys know if 6x9 speakers will fit on the doors??

Anyone know what smartphones beside the iPhone are compatible with this unit?

 

Any modern smartphone should work via Bluetooth. This will let you stream music and handle your phone calls. Only iDevices ( iPods, iPhones) and USB thumb drives will work via USB.

I just installed a AVH-P3400BH and used the relay. Fairly cheap at autozone or O'reillys (6.00). Works well the first time, all you need. Plenty of room behind the HU for it too.

 

Does anyone know if this unit supports any gps apps for the iPhone? Looking at this one or the Pioneer sph-da01.

 

Out of the box - no. The only apps it supports are the ones that stream bluetooth audio. Pandora works but doesn't display any screen info. PowerAmp works great and shows track into on the screen.

There is a GPS module you can get for $400 but I'm not ready to buy that yet. Maybe that will support iPhone and Droid GPS apps? <shrug>

The Pioneer App Radio supports iPhone/Pad/Pod GPS with an app. Those are $100 or more over the price of this stereo.

I'm fairly certain that everything above is compatible with my truck and each other. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. But, I did have a couple other questions:
I know this HU has a back-up camera option, and my truck as the OEM back up camera. Is there anything special that i need to buy/know before I tackle this? I would like it to operate just like the one I have now (ie. turn on when I put the truck in reverse).
Do I need anything extra to make it 'XM-ready'? I don't subscribe to it now, but I might in the future.
Anyone notice anything amiss? Any help would be great!
