USS Nimitz Day Cruise (Pretty cool stuff!)

    So - i've been gone for quite a while (I've been quite busy lately) - just wanted to stop by and throw this out there for those who might be interested. My Civil Air Patrol squadron went on a day cruise onboard the USS Nimitz - one of the carriers stationed in San Diego. It was pretty cool, especially due to one of my Cadet's fathers being a Naval officer assigned to the ship - so we got to see things that most others didn't.

    That's awesome! I got to see the Nimitz in port in Honolulu 20yrs ago. (I was 13) Got to walk all the way up to it. My uncle was in the navy & stationed there......it's the only carrier I have ever seen up close & personal!

    It's amazing to think about how something that big actually stays afloat in the water... It's deck is the size of 3 football fields lined up. Amazing.

    Them machines are incredible and the finest in the world. I would love to experience that along with a shuttle launch.
