well, we seem to hear this from law enforcement a lot, ... maybe it's to absolve themselves of any culpability w/ what happens..., but i believe oftentimes it's an "overzealous" law enforcement mentatliy... i'm reminded of similar things echoed by some in law enforcement when a citizen defends themselves from a mugging/attack, ...funny it's always said "we don't recommend citizens take the law into their own hands" it's offensive for them to say that about an attack they had no presence/factor in stopping...

 

By all means, you just keep on keepin on.

 

This thread is full of so much speculation and shoulda, coulda, woulda's, its no wonder people are letting the media drive this emotional case. From Spike Lee's tweeting the wrong address, the black panthers calling for a $1 million bounty, and some idiot representative wearing a hoodie on the congressional floor. Hell, for the first four days after this story broke, most TV stations were reporting that Zimmerman was a white guy. Wonder how big this story would have been had Zimmerman's last name been Gonzalez? Not very big, but just as tragic.

Here's the sad truth peeps. We don't know the facts. Speculating on what happened is like pushing a rope. Zimmerman could have been an overlealous cop wanna-be, and Trayv could have been a gang-banger wanna be. Too bad they crossed paths.

Anyone read the article about two weeks ago that showed how two black kids followed a white kid home from school, poured gas all over him and lit him ablaze while saying, "You get what you deserve white boy?" Or what about the hispanic kid who was laid into by a gang of older black kids three weeks ago calling him derogatory comments whilst beating the ever living tar out of him.

Thought so. News didn't care to report those very broadly. It did not fit their mold.

Despite what you presume to be right or wrong with this case, just remember to not pass judgement based on what you are hearing (or more importantly, not hearing) in the news, from the politicians, or from the race warlords. They all have their own agendas, and the death of Trayv is nothing more than a mechanism to push that said agenda. They could care one iota less about Trayv. These people step over dead kids everyday in their own communities while heading towards to the tv cameras.

Its unfortunate that we only put a value on someone's life when they are killed by someone from another ethnicity. Black kids in hoodies kill each other every night, yet I have never seen the race pimps or the NBPP down in the ghettos decrying that violence. Nah, the Sharpton's of the world really don't care about their children until they are killed by a white guy or someone who's name makes them sound white. Then its, 'Lights! Camera! Action!'

I guess what worries me is that NO ONE has the facts but we're very quick to pass judgement. Our justice system has some very definite failings, but I'd still rather be tried there than in the court of public opinion.

Okay, there is an assumption that Zimmerman confronted Martin -- but that is not a giant leap of faith. He's recorded making comments about how he is following someone he deems suspicious, and openly verbalizes a dissatisfaction about how they are rarely arrested/prosecuted. At some point he exits his vehicle in close-enough proximity to Martin to allow an altercation to develop. Now, given the evidence prior to that moment (Zimmerman's 911 call, Martin's call to his female friend), it's not hard to connect the dots on why he was exiting the vehicle. In this scenario it's pretty safe to assume that he wasn't getting out to offer Martin an umbrella, cup of coffee or a ride to his house.

All I know is that if I'm minding my business and someone is following me down the street, then exits their vehicle near me, I go into high-alert/defensive mode -- especially when there are no clear indicators that the person tailing me is of a law enforcement capacity. Nobody aside from Zimmerman knows exactly what happened from that point forward. But just stepping from his vehicle can be interpreted as an act of promoting confrontation in this case. To me, the main question is:

At what point did Zimmerman have the right and/or duty to promote a confrontation with a person who until that point had shown ZERO reported suspicious behavior other than walking down the sidewalk while being black and wearing a hoodie?

As for the mob rule -- my only opinion is that they are all fucking idiots who need to shut up. If they have violated any laws they should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

As for the media -- we've mentioned this before, but television is a ratings-driven business. Don't blame the media for delivering the product society wants to watch. Blame society for not demanding more thorough or deeper coverage. There are literally thousands of alternative media outlets which offer a variety of coverage, and in the age of the Internet it is much easier to seek out the depth of investigation you are looking for. The average American has the attention of a rabbit with ADD, so blaming a media outlet for packaging their product in a manner most easily digestible by their consumer is like blaming the sun for being hot.

If there was a market for gang shoot-outs or crack overdoses, you would see it more often on the news. There's not -- at least not to the point where it will drive ratings. There is a market for racial crime -- especially when it involves controversial topics like Stand Your Ground.

A news outlet's business model is to get people watching and to keep them watching in order to sell advertisements and make money. If they accomplish that by playing the hype then they are accomplishing their goals. If you don't like their ethics there are options: Turn the channel OR don't buy the goods or services advertised during their broadcasts. When enough people do this they can change (and have) the culture of how news information is disseminated.

i don't believe merely getting out of one's vehicle is a confrontation... for a confrontation to occur you have to be a threat w/in a proximity to inflict damage... there's no laws against following or proximity unless a restraining order (by a judge) is involved.... that doesn't apply here... if you believe you're being followed, that doesn't mean you should turn around and confront the one following you... following may be kinda unsettling/creepy, ..but unless a restraining order of some sort is in place, both are allowed to have a presence in the same area as long as there is no physical harm... basically what this comes down to is who "confronted who", ..who "assaulted" who... just because trayvon is 17 and had skittles doesn't absolve him completely from culpability in this matter...

i agree w/ this 95%, ..though the LSM should still be held to account for being propogandists, not journalists... they readily pat themselves on the back, give out awards, lot's of self adulating kiss-ass, ...but journalists, they are not... they are hacks who put agenda over impartiatlity and truth, ... they care not what effects a wrought from their journalistic malfeasance...

well, we'll have to wait and see... it certainly is quite possible it was legitimate SD, ..as the witness testimony and police reports suggest trayvon was beating on him pretty badly... now the vid clip of zimmerman at the police station has been "enhanced" and appears to show injury to his head (even ABC released this in an attempt to "vindicate" themselves of the fraud they've committed up to this point)... also another witness said they saw zimmerman bloodied up, nose and all, and bandaged at the scene...

but, zimmerman's life will never be back to normal... you get lynched on nat'l media like that and have the race-baiter community calling for your head, these folks won't take "no probable cause", let alone "not guilty" for an answer... the they've been whipped up into so much emotionally-driven angst, they'll erupt into riots... i guess that was the plan all along... talk about having to keep your head on a swivel, ..never knowing if you'll be made by an angry mob, or by lone wolf vigilantes... imagine trying to get a job, ..the question of your credibility, the baggage, etc...
