Back in the 60s the X-15 was way popular with kids, as were all things rocketry. We used to build and send up model rockets all the time, I've not seen a kid with one in years and years.

Dropped from a B-52 or not the X-15 was a rocket as its engine was a rocket engine.

"A rocket is a missile, spacecraft, aircraft or other vehicle which obtains thrust from a rocket engine."

i like how advanced the C-17 is... the flight deck is amazing.. almost all glass cockpit, but as a prior flight engineer, my job was useless in those...

I've never been on a C-17 or even close to one; how do they compare to the C-5?

Edit: I admire all you cargo people, even though the fighters and bombers get all the glory. it would be hard for us ground-pounders to have gotten to where we were going without you and it's hard too to deliver humanitarian aid from an F-22.

P-38 Lightning. A modern rebuild of this would be an amazing aircraft.

    Too many to list now.
I got to sit in the cockpit of an SR-71, you would not believe how small it is. The plane itself is huge, but they just cram the pilots in there. When the glass comes down your face is a MAYBE 12 inches away from every side.
