started my car up last night and was surprised by a very loud rumble. so loud that it sounded like my truck had no muffler. yup, looked underneath and someone freaking stole what was my catalytic converter. but upon closer inspection i noticed there was still a cat attached to the header. so my question is what did they steal? was it a cat or some kind of resonator? when i look at parts diagrams online it shows one cat only, the one attached to header. so I'm not sure what they stole??? its a 2001 taco 2.4ltr btw. california model..

Dirtbags that will steal a pack of gum from a child and dirtbag scrap dealers that will pay cash for a brand new spool of wire.

Platinum is big bucks. Cats have platinum in them.

i heard they only get about $20 worth of platinum per cat from them. doesn't seem worth it. I got that info from a tv show so I'm not sure how correct it is

    $20 is $20.

Dirtbag with a cordless sawzall or a chain cutter and rip 10 cats an hour.

And he will find a scrap dealer that will buy every one of them every morning.

Nahh... Just a Tabby, but he has the personality and the yeowl of a Bengal.
Very vocal and "chatty"... and very dog-like in his relationship with me.
Wife seems to think he's a Bengal, but he's WAY too small... he's 18 years old and I'd say only 12-13lbs.

He's got the spotted belly, but everything else is striped.

Oh ya.. and he loves water. Doesn't like being wet, but he will wash his food, and we're always catching him playing in the toilet.
Of course, he won't drink dirty water, so after washing his food, the water bowl is ruined... so he drinks from the toilet too.
We have intentionally not repaired the leaking ball valves so there is a light but steady flow of fresh water.... our water bill hasn't changed.

This was taken a few days ago

It has long been my opinion that scrap metal dealers should be regulated and their purchases tracked. The stealing and reselling of metal has reached epidemic proportions.

They are, but since there is supply and demand, backdoor deals are done.

The scrap dealers KNOW that they are receiving stolen property, but the cops can't prove it and the dealers know it.

    Sorry 'bout the thread.

Looks very much like my bengals. They are all around 13-14 lbs. They are big but lean. And they also love playing in water and drinking out of a sink faucet, jumping after feathers on strings, and fighting each other for king of the pride. [IMG]

That's one thing he never did, even when we had 6.
He always viewed himself as a "daddy" and would allow the others to eat before he would, or when we got out one of the feather toys, he'd walk away when another cat came over to play and he'd come back when they were tired.

But he was unquestionably "king". The white one was always asserting dominance. I tried to put a stop to it by grabbing him by the scruff with my teeth and shaking him while growling.
That worked.... kinda. Any time I would approach, he'd immediately drop and roll over.
But there were only a couple of times that he went after Mal, and it stopped quickly after a "fwap" on the head.

He is very smart. When playing with us, we'll get a little rough, but his claws are always retracted. If he needs a trim, every now and then one will catch, and he immediately calms down.
When it's time for a nail trim, he enjoys his "Paw-dicure"... I cradle him on his back like a baby and he just lays there and looks at me while I trim them. If I get close and draw blood, he'll let out a little yelp, but won't fight more than the initial pullback.

Is there anyway to run serious volts/amps into the exhaust system so that when a dirtbag tears into it with a sawzall, he ends up shitting his stomach out his rectum?

Sure.... but you'd go to prison for a very long time whether he died or not.

If you could positively charge it with a secondary battery, when he grabbed onto the pipe whole touching a grounded surface he would complete the circuit. Like an electric fence.

    Must be a completed circuit.

You could charge the truck up to 10,000v and he would not feel a thing unless a part of the circuit other than the dirtbag were grounded.

You'd have to have a "probe" that deployed to ground when parked and armed.

You're right, I forgot to add that you would have to ground the battery separately from the truck. Too difficult.

thanks for the replies guys. bummer i was really hoping it was just a resonator or just a straight pipe that belonged there. lol. anyway is it necessary to put the second cat back? is the first one good enough to pass emissions and keep a cel from being triggered? i ask because my m3 has secondary cats that can be deleted without a cel or failing smog, they are post 02 secondaries thats why. any thoughts? just trying to avoid replacing it with another cat if its not even really needed.
