Will tuner lug nuts work???

I'm looking to fit an extended "tuner style" lug nut to my MB 72 wheels... will these lug nuts http://www.ebay.com/itm/24-BLACK-AL...&otn=5&po=LVI&ps=63&clkid=7417183967418630324 fit on these MB 72 wheels http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/wheels/mb_wheels/product/submitProductSize.do?r=WASINT&pc=69363 ???

Update!! I recieved my new wheels an installed them with the "tuner nugs" They easily torqued to 83ftlbs... so we'll see if they hold. I'm stoked on how they turned out, gives a mean look, something different to the norm for played out black wheels.

 

Are you looking for extended-thread lug nuts (i.e. thread that extends into the wheel's lug hole to grab onto the short studs)? These are not it.

And personally I would never trust aluminum lug nuts, even from name-brand mfrs like Rays, let alone no-name ones on eBay.

Gorilla makes extended-thread spline-drive tuner lug nuts in black chrome-plated steel. You can buy them from Wheelers or any other place online.

 

No. I'm just wanting a different look... give it a meaner stance by having the lugs stick out. So these will work? An yes aluminum is pry not as strong

 

The eBay ones will fit. And since aluminum isn't as strong as steel, the lug nuts may crack if you torque them to OEM specs.

Just keep in mind that when (not if) they strip, you're going to play hell cleaning the mess out of the studs... if the studs aren't damaged when the wheel comes off.

It's one thing on a 1800 pound Civic (and they aren't safe on that)... quite another on a truck with offroad wheels and tires.

I'm glad I don't live in Modesto... but it scares the fuck out of me to know that there are others on the road in SoCal that are using these.

 

i'll keep an eye on them... if they dont torque to spec, come loose/strip or just plan seem unsafe i'll pull them instantly!

 

They'll torque to spec just fine.

The problem will come a few weeks down the road or when you hit the trails.

You might want to check and make sure the stock lugs will work on those rims (should you have a problem with the tuner ones). Some rims won't allow the stock lugs to seat properly (or grab onto enough threads).
