So, shooting for the stars this weekend among other things, I really did a number on the tailgate..and my rear taillight. I told my friends we should have cut this tree down, right in the middle of the drive path. But noooo, lets leave it up they said. Sure enough....

    ..........

Talked to the stealership. Said it would be "well over $1000 in parts alone", plus it would need to be painted. I also bent one of the bottom tailgate mounts for it......Gonna get some quotes on it this week. Needless to say I'm pissed. Majorly. I don't want to deal with insurance ($500 deduct), but i also don't have a spare $2000 (after parts, labor, taxes, everything) laying around. What a PITA.

I'd try craiglist for parts and such. Seems cosmetic, keep your head up!!

    Sorry man

This guy's sellin' his SWB tailgate for $150. Might wanna get in touch:

Don't go to the dealership for parts for fuck's sake. That's what the internet's for.

You could also go custom fab toob-gate for less than a grand, although probably not a bunch less...might save you a couple hundred...

Also, what labor? Bolt the new shit in yourself.

I hate to say it but their are a ton of stolen tailgates out there on Craigslist. I'm not saying you should buy from a known thief (that would make you a dick) but there are many out there. I'm sure you could do better than $2k on your own.

Don't even have to go to craigslist. You can commonly find them on forums like these for a couple hundred...pay a body shop another couple hundred to match the paint and you're in business.

Thanks man!!!! Sucks he's in OK but I dont care I'll pay for shipping. I just sent him an email about it. According to the stealership as its aptly named, the parts come seperate (sheet metal, plastics and latch assembly). It would all need to b assembled and then painted. Not saying I was planning on going that route just the quote I got. Hell I'd even take a mismatched tailgate and just get it painted!!! Just picked up a new taillight from another TW member (thanks Mellow!!!) so now I just have to deal with this issue.

    Bahhh so annoyed.

I really appreciate jandrews helpin me out on that one...now I just need to have the seller email me back. I feel like a SWB tailgate untouched for $150 is a rare find, regardless of the shipping cost, which I'm sure will exceed the cost of the tailgate. I don't care lol.

I can't even Hammertime that. I'd need MC Hammer for that.
