So in a rush to change my oil today i bought and put in 10-40w penzoil instead of 5-30w in my 99 3.4l.... I live in northern utah and its about 25-35 degrees in the morning and gets about 65 in the day.... will it hurt/cause damage to my engine?

it suppose to have 5-30w but if you say 10-30w is good than 10-40w should be just fine cuz that means when the oil heats up it will have the protection of 40w oil right? or does that restrict the flow of oil through the engine?

I ran nothing but 10W-40 in my '87 for 225,000 miles and 17 years -- it's not going to hurt a thing.

just go and get the right oil. its like 30 -60 bucks depending on where u are. do you really wanna chance it? I wouldnt risk it over a little change(compared to cost of engine repair) like that
