    Hey there,

New to the Tacoma world, chiming in from Iqaluit Nunavut.

    Have a 2007 Tacoma TRD, with a 2.5" lift & 33's.

Recently had new Bilstein 5100 series shocks installed on the front and rear end and there seems to be a problem.

It appears there is a gap between the top of the strut mount plate and bolt at the top of the shock itself.

On the drivers side it appears it is on an angle vs the passenger.

Attached pictures to help with the visualization!

    Is there a spacer involved?

Please let me know what I can do to correct the problem!! Thank-you!!

Thats a 50$ spacer lift not 5100s, did you take it to a shop? I would raise hell if a shop installed that crap on my stock stuff when I paid for 5100s.

Yeah, doesn't look like 5100s to me. Does look like they broke the assembly though. Like the shaft is bent.

need more pics but your one shock is broken or missing the washers and bushing.

and if those are 5100s there shouldnt be a spacer there

Wow. What shop did that?! That's a pitiful excuse for a lift.

Looks like they forgot the top washer and bushing.

See here in Iqaluit, we only have so many mechanics we can go to. It really bothers me to know that we pay 150/hr for work to be done on our vehicles when it's not even done right! I have a 2006 Jeep Rubicon LongArm Kit the whole works - I can't drive it because the mechanics screw the T/C from a misaligned drive shaft.

So from this point it appears the lift is not a good one; can someone tell me what I need in order to have a proper lift? Also, the 5100's are appearently adjustible up to 2.5", could this be the issue as well?

I am new to the Tacoma's and the lift was already on before I got it. So I need information!! I also had a new wheel hub assembly, CV BOOT, and strut mount put on the drivers side last month! Then I noticed a squeek!

Help! I'll try to get more pictures!

I cut some wires here. Added some wires there.
How does that not look like a 5100??? What is it about the black boot in the pic that looks so much different than the black boot on a 5100 that has people saying those aren't 5100s?

Looks that way to me as well, the black boot suggests 5100's are installed-
but 5100's are not designed to be run with spacers, #1 problem.

It looks like you're missing a bushing. There's something missing, that's pretty much a given. It's not a big deal, but you're going to have to get in there and open it up and see which part is missing. Guys have had this problem when they try to leave the black boot off. They end up leaving the metal bushing out that's built into the boot. Just like you're going to have to do, they end up taking the whole thing back apart and putting in that bushing. Weather you have it done or do it yourself, that's pretty much what needs to happen. You can find step by step how-to instructions with pics all over TW. It's not that hard. I did it, and I don't know shit about trucks. I didn't even know I had air bags but I did my own 5100s, so I'm betting you can too.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Top plates are installed in the wrong spot. The aluminum piece is supposed to go on top of the top plate. That must have been a bitch to compress. Chances are you just wore a nice hole through that top plate.

EDIT: ok maybe they are in the right spot but it looks like you're missing the top plate on the first pic.
