Here's a few I've taken over the years. It was mostly carpet, sheet vinyl in the kitchen, and engineered oak hardwood in the foyer (10'X7'). Just the standard builder grade stuff. I knew I planned on upgrading later so I didn't spend want to spend the money when the house was built to put in better stuff. In hind sight, I should have negotiated with him to do hardwoods throughout. He wanted an extra 6G's for hardwood throughout though. Oh well...I was a first time homebuyer and didn't know any better.

    macgyver,

i've got a laundry closet reno i'm going to do, same size as yours... i like those cabinets, especially w/ the cubbies underneath.. did you find those at a home center, or did you have to get custom?

I made them myself. Custom fit for the space.

You could probably buy some stock cabinets w/ a filler strip and then make the cubbies yourself. I just used 12"W X 8' Long pre-cut pieces of Melamine from HD and some pre-cut 1x2 MDF for the faceframe. The backer panel is made from a 4x8 sheet of MDF beadboard.

yeah, i'm hoping i could do that w/ just a piece or two of trim/filler... i'll have to take measurements to see what i have to work w/.. the beadboard paneling is a great touch - that's what really drew me to your cabinets - looks great!

Half moon cutouts are for grabbing things out of the bins. Think about it. If you put 50 pieces of paper in there and there was no cutout, it would be hard to grab the paper.

we have natural stone tile around our fireplace and as a backsplash around the soaker tub in the master bath. we also have a travertine backsplash in the kitchen. my question is, what brand of sealer (clear preferably) is recommended to prevent these from getting stained?

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1336353207.779782.jpgI am almost done with a full bathroom gut job. Today I cut and polished the vanity counter top. I also cored the sink holes after this picture was taken

Probably a month too late , but we use this line of sealers and enhancers for natural stone

Thanks! It isnt hard to do, its just time consuming.

Luckily I got the granite for free so it was worth my time to cut and polish it

that looks like a nice thick piece, ...should be pretty strong.. do you reinforce the cabinetry too? i did in my bathroom remodel, using some 1x2s, construction adhesive, and corner gussets - but maybe that was overkill! :D

Its a 1 1/8 inch piece, probably weighs 50lbs or so. I bought a nice cherry cabinet that is very well built so the weight hopefully shouldn't be a problem.

I just attached the cabinet to the studs and will used some adhesive tonight to attach the granite to the vanity.

Skill saw with a diamond blade for the straight edges and a variable speed angle grinder for the sink hole.

Also used the angle grinder with different grit polishing pads to shape the corners and inside bowl
