I don't think tumbleweeds and cactus will be as entertaining as homeless folks and car wrecks. Work days will be very long.

Then that is as good as you can do. Unless, you can get the realtor to not show the house with out at least 1 day notice so you could take the Dogs to doggy daycare.

Is there a neighbor you trust? Maybe someone that stays at home all day you can call with an hour notice for them to go pick them up for a bit?

Maybe kennel them out in the garage? Keep a fan out there to keep them cool with lots of water. Keep a note on the garage door saying the dogs are kenneled out there or something?

I wouldn't suggest doing the "by appointment only" crap.

Will your dogs go nuts in their kennels if someone is showing the house?

Hank was sleeping in the sun spot by the back door when I went home for lunch. He seems to have stayed off the couch.

he seems to be fairly smart. I'm sure it will take a little bit of work and he will be a great dog.

We need to work on getting him to not run off, come when called and drop things he is chewing on...and to stop rolling out the lipstick every time he sits down. Other than that, he is a good boy.

The not running off is going to be a tough one. If you figure it out, let me know. We have one that will run if he gets out. He won't go far, but he knows there is a dog or two close that he wants to go play with.

My shepherd has a hard time coming to me sometimes. She plays fetch, but when she brings the ball back its more like keep away. I was gone way too much of her puppyhood.

We have that problem with Bear. He'll stay close as long as you're interacting with him, and tell him to come back when he starts to stray off. But if I'm working in the garage and not paying attention, he'll wander off to visit his buddies 3 to 5 houses away. I always know where to go find him, but it's annoying. I've taken to putting him on a 30 ft lead connected to the workbench when I know I won't be paying 100% attention to him. :notsure: what to solve it with, besides one of those wireless shock collars (a buddy has one) but I'm not a big fan of that approach. :(

We aren't too worried about it. We know his behavior. If we open the door he won't bolt out so it isn't that big of a deal. He has a back yard to run around in, otherwise he is on a leash.

They do work from the experience of two friends. One time shocked and both of their dogs learned the boundary. Sad part is you can take the shock collar off and it still takes a lot of coaxing to get them to cross the boundary even with you by their side. That shock really leaves a mark in their minds. FWIW
