There is just nothing I can say about it, that doesn't sound horribly ghey.

    Hey guys, forgot to mention:

I have no recourse in this, but I would recommend against ever using movinghelp.com They're a uhaul subsidiary that will schedule movers for you, but they really don't help much, because they make absolutely no guarantees about the movers or anything else. If anything happens, you're on your own.

Furthermore, I would be very hard-pressed to ever again use "Local Moving Professionals" run by a guy named Shane. They packed my U-Haul about as well as I would have (which is to say, very amateur) and as a result, rather than having room to spare, I had to leave my mower, CRT TV, and a cheap entertainment center behind.

I would have had to leave more had I not fixed some of it myself.

Also, they dropped one of my kenwood floorstanding speakers off the truck and on its side, and although they offered to compensate me for it, I have yet to see a check and do not expect to.

Anyway, just a heads up. If anyone actually knows this "Shane", let me know!

Wowza... am I the only person who thinks this looks incredibly dangerous?

    Snatch block, treesaver, winch?

I understand the tools may not have been available at the time, but for future trips where someone is 2WD and has an open diff, this may be something to think about. Make sure someone has proper recovery tools so that nobody gets run over. (Yeah yeah, I know it's kinda trolling, but it looks really sketchy)

Yeah, they were new tires. I was wenched out. This was basically for a photo opp. We all knew that pulling on the chain wasn't going to free me.

Ha, yeah... wasn't trying to stir up stink, just thought that when I saw that it looked really sketchy, and it'd be a good opportunity to bring up proper recovery technique.

Now if someone was straddling the winch cable under load while winching him out, then maybe all hope is lost :p

As was said, this was done for fun, and as a photo op. When we did use the winch, we were observing safety and made sure nobody was in harms way. Funny thing is, pulling by hand we actually almost freed him!
