i took a screw off of the rear view mirror and it seems impossible to screw it back, i think a nut fell in there.... anyways now the top piece that connects to the roof dangles freely and i hope im not gonna have to buy a new one:mad: so if someone ever took one apart i would love to know how!!

    Thread revival, I know...
Same thing just happened to me!
Were you able to take it apart? I googled a generic search, "taking apart rear view mirror" and came up with an article that said to use a small screw driver to pry the housing apart at the very thin seam but that seems like it'd be easy to break. Otherwise they're like $100 at toyota parts zone...

Nope i had to get a new one... But my g-f owns a big scrap yard so i had it for free lol
And on top of that i just threw it away a few weeks ago, i would of been glad to try and pry it apart to make sure it was doable.

    Aw lame, but lucky you!
I'll try taking it apart first but I guess I'll have to take a look in some junk yards around here, then.
    Quite the design flaw...
    Thanks for the follow up!
