I think it is dupli-color that has a actual aluminum wheel paint that comes in bronze. I have a can of the gun metal color from when I painted the weld racing wheels on my old Tacoma. I will go see what it is exactly and let you know. It worked really well. But I know why you want the bronze color. I just put my black KMC Enduro's and MT/R's back on the truck to go snow wheeling yesterday. My truck looks way smaller with the black wheels. Brought new hope to me keeping both sets of wheels and tires! Lol. Also the MT/R's look small compared to the BFG A/T KO's. Funny how that works. Lol.

Thanks Brant, let me know on the paint seems to be a popular mod on the Subaru's to paint the wheels bronze maybe I can lurk some of those forums for a little insight.

    Thanks for the compliments Camit34.

I've had mine up to 80-90mph with no issues at all, as long they're balanced properly

I think they do pretty well on the road, they do get noisier as they wear but all in all a great tire.

My truck won't go that fast, until I supercharge it........

I just did a 2911 mile trip last week Idaho to New Mexico and back with some side adventures in CO, UT and NM ended up averaging 20 MPG and my best tank averaged 21 MPG but my truck is slow 65-70 mph average and gutless on some of the long climbs. I think a supercharger from URD may be in the future.

I didn't make it to ABQ this trip, I will be headed down again at some point when I have more time so we will have to do some wheeling then. It was good to see my family, friends and home I did not realize how much I miss NM. I had plans to do a short trail run in Moab on the way down but had issues with my ADD switch which I still haven't quite figured out but did get it to start working this evening when I messed with it.

Aw, bummer. And I'm glad you had a good time! I was born and raised here and I'll probably live here the reat of my life! :D

Sorry to hear about the ADD switch... Another reason I love 1st gens with almost manual everything! :D

You know, you can fairly easily convert your diff to non-add "fully locked" diff to eliminate problems like that.... Only downside to that is that both your CVs will be spinning at all times. I know for a fact you can do this to a 7.5" clamshell (1st gen diff) and I'm guessing you can do the same thing to the 8" clamshell

Not yet, I shredded the boots on my stock CV's and replaced them with cheapo CV's that seem to be holding up but I don't really trust them and plan to go back to stock rebuilt CV's from CVJ. Currently the truck has 96K on it and is holding up better than I ever expected.

I am not sure you can do it to the 8" clamshell. Mainly just cause I don't know where you would get the solid side from. The 7.5" had the option of manual hubs and ADD. The 8" is ADD on everything. Unless there is a different way to lock up the clamshell rather than eliminate the whole ADD side with a manual hub side.

You don't need the solid side necessarily. You can just disconnect all vacuum or electrical lines from the actuator and lock the shifting fork in place on the "lock" side. If the 8" diffs have the same setup as the 7.5" diffs (as in the way the actuator works with the shifter fork and sliding sleeve gear) I bet you could do it.

This is how I did it.... lol :D I haven't used it yet, since I'm keeping the diff off my truck for regearing but I have no reason to believe it won't work. Besides, it's been done before on the 7.5"...

non I just got it march 30th 2012 and need to pay it down some first.
WOW, your truck makes me jealous! I just bought an 2008 4cyl. 5sp access cab 4x4, almost exactly like yours except red. I love it so far, but can't afford to build it up yet, but your is going to be one of my referance points when I can afford it. Keep up the good work.
