Went to get the work done at a small shop in my home town and they told me they would order the parts in, then I asked how much it would be and he said over $200! I asked why so much and he said, you can't just get the seal...it comes in one part. So now after reading some threads I thought I would ask the pros:D, so does this guy know what he is talking about? and what parts do I need? Thanks.

That's what I thought, just looked at some more threads and it's not a small job by the looks of it, so I'll stop being a cheapass now:D

I got knowingly raped at $600 for both rear seals replacement at the dealership. $200 is a great price for parts and labor. Oh, you'll want to make sure both sides get done replaced.

I replaced both seals on my '97 GMC a couple of years back. The seals were only $10 a piece, but the job took me about 10 hours due to removing the axles and taking apart the locking diff (well not a true locking diff). Id say youre getting a good deal. And definately have both of them done at the same time.

It can literally take 15 minutes to pull out the rear axle just to expose the seals. I hate shops like that
