Actually wrong. I better step in and clearify.

Venezuela has the largest followed by the Saudi's. Alberta oil sands are 3rd. US purchases more bitumen from us then any other country. We serisoly lack in upgrading and refining, but that will change.

Im writing a opertunities report for Alberta and analysis of industry gdp. Canadian fuel prices have a chance to drop after we start refining ourselfs and stop buying refined product from the US. Which should start to happen by 2020. Maintaince of these facilities will require about 8-12k people making Alberta a damn good place to invest in any industry.

But since we buy the majority of our refined fuels from the US now, we have the highest prices. Im not for the Keystone pipeline. Good for the US, bad for canada. We should be refining all of our product and selling it to the Americans, driving there prices even higher :D

As for prices goverment interferiance ie price celings would seriously screw the market and lead to a huge fuel shortage. For price to drop you need a increase to supply, something thats been happening, and demand to drop. Asia is buying excesive amounts of refined product for its growing econmy so demand is growing, forcing prices higher.

Oil producers are Oligopolys. They participate in stratigic behaviour, set prices ect. If there were some boundries in place that might help control prices. That would be like fixed profit margins. That would be nearly impossible to implement and have tones of conterversy.

So Americans, get prepared to pay more when your hat decides it likes american money.

There's between 1.7 and 2.0 trillion barrels of bitumen located in the Athabasca oil sands deposit. The Alberta government has estimated that 10% of this, or roughly 174 billion barrels, is recoverable.
Many analysts believe the oil sands of Alberta holds over 300 billion barrels of oil reserves, much more than Saudi Arabia's 258 billion barrels.
Although some say the quality of the Alberta oil is too low.

    Stay off topic damnit!

On another note, why the hell do some folks hate the Canadians so much? In all seriousness, don't you have someone remotely evil to spew venom about?

No wonder the whole goddamn world hates us when we travel.

    Oh, and :oldglory:

I don't drink Molson when I'm in Canada. Shits more expensive 50 miles from the brewery then what I pay in NJ for it. Taxes is a bitch.

When I'm out of the US I like Heineken. Their US beer sucks, but the shit they export for other countries is delicious

Yes sir...I discovered that I truly love Heinie at the Mothership, Amsterdam. Tasted so much better on draft there then over here, but I still drown a few when I'm feeling spendy.

Oh, and a cool thing about this thread? I learned hockey is still a sport. Thanks Canada! :D

I don't drink Molson and I live in Canada... Heineken is one of my favourites but any craft brewery is great! Thank you Beer Wars! That documentary opened my eyes! But it still didn't explain why gas prices are so much more here than in the states!! Just went to $1.23/L here
