    ...too much shit to list.
Ok you're talking about traditional shackles vs inverted shackles.
The second gen's come stock with inverted shackles. There are kits out there (i.e. Giant) which embrace the inverted shackle design, and there are people that ditch it all together and run a traditional drop shackle.

I don't have a second gen, but from what I've read people have issues articulating the rear axle and rubbing with the inverted shackles (particularly with the Giant Kit).

Yes that is what I am talking about. Brain was working slow so may not have got what I was talking about across clear enough originally. Sounded good in my head. Is that the only reason or are there other benefits? Only set up I have heard that has/had rubbing issues is Giant. How about the DMZ kit? Curious as to why more people do not go that route.

i think there is more fab work involved in running a conventional shackle on a 2nd gen, not sure tho, can you use the stock hangers if using the Giant shackles?

Wouldn't recommend it. You'll crack the stock hanger due to stress and no reinforcements.

the only kit that uses the stock hanger is the defined kit. giant and DMZ both come with new hangers and shackle mounts

logan, went a whole different route and set his leafs up with a 12" shackle above the frame, 1st gen style... not sure what he did for the front hanger though

I've got a pair of 12" travel Fox 2.5" reservoir shocks sitting in my garage if you're interested. Valving is as delivered/unknown and they've only had an afternoon of 'wheeling aside from road miles.

They're from this iteration of my truck:

The u-bolt flip with the strike plate ate up too much space and restricted compression travel too much.

Max worked with Mike at Defined to come up with a sweet solution to the problem and is running something that'll work much better while still keeping the flip:

They were as-delivered. This was early on in my learning process and I didn't know enough to mess with that stuff.

Nope. They wouldn't fit with the shocks I'm now running so they had to go. I've been running without bumps for about 2 years now.

I have some 2" air bumps in the garage waiting to be mounted. Just need the time to work on my pile again.

Cool, I was wondering if I would have any isues with these fitting. Still trying to figure out if I want to move up to a bypass or something similar that you did with the 12" smoothbody.
