Looking for a UTV

I'm looking for a used UTV for a decent price. I'm not crazy about the Polaris Ranger, I do like the RZR and Kawasaki Teryx a lot, though. But, the only thing I'm really seeing that's affordable and something I like are the rhinos. Are they any good? Found this on craigslist.

Are there any known reliability issues with the rhino?

 

love are Rhino!! it’s 2011 sport. 700cc. i have jumped it and everything even tho it says not to. had it in water over the tires. (tires are 25” and it says not to go deeper that 14”) bed says 400# i have had over 500 around are 5 acres and done fine. we have not had one problem out of it. tops out at 42MPH with 2 people and some gear.

edit: i’m going to get a new ECU and clutch kit and make it go like 55 to 60MPH

 

that one looks good to me. i would stay away from the 450. i hear it is a little under powered. 660 is good.

We have a rhino. It is sweet! Fast, powerful, and you can even use it for work. We actually bought it used with very low hours and has no problems. Get a rhino.

 

Have always been satisfied with the Rhino's we've had. They are good for playing and working. On the years you are looking at Yamaha had a safety recall and put those gay doors on which are cheap as shit, but you can remove. Also these years do not have efi, so if you are in high altitudes or very cold climates you may have a little difficulty starting it. You're also looking at the 660cc motor in these years, which there is nothing wrong with, but you might want to test drive first to make sure you are satisfied. Should top out around 38 if I recall... Also air intake is located in center console location which was annoying for some reason ha, can't remember exactly though

 

The rhino 700, 09 and up(think), they are the fuel injected ones, they are suppose to be much better than the 660s, which were still a good machine. My dad has a 2011 and it is great. It isnt super fast, it only does 43, where its governed at. It does get there in a decent hurry though. My dads has about 1500 miles on it and he hasnt had a single problem. I like the rhinos because they are very user friendly. They also have a ton of aftermarket stuff. I was looking at buying something new, and have decided on a rhino. I just have to wait until after I get married this June so the cash flow smooths out. My only complaint is they are kind of noisy. I have heard some others are a lot quieter in the cab.

 

x2. i think it’s the best for work and play. we liked the RZR but we liked having a real bed for work. and to haul more gear. gas/food/drinks/ extra cloths in winter riding/

i would get a winch and nothing smaller than a 3’000 pound.

But anyway, if you want a UTV for play and work, get a rhino. Preferably get a newer one. Like Skidooman said. Fuel injected. We have the red sport edition. Love it!

 

yeah new 700 FI air intake is under the hood. i like the doors and i step over them kinda. they keep allot of tree branches and shit from coming in side.

 

dealer had a warn in stock got it same day and me and dad put it on.

also something nice is you have 2wd/4wd/ 4wd and front diff lock. rear diff stays locked all the time does not really tear up grass at all if you go easy. and drives ok on the road.

 

Ya thats a plus about the doors I guess. I just never like them because we had the rhino before the whole door safety recall so it was annoying to jump over them. Plus the latches never seemed to work right so they'd always be swinging around ha

 

You have to slam the doors hard for them to latch. Or just jump over. Haha

 

yeah i slam them and they latch fine. also you may not see that about them unless you ride in woods allot.

i take the rhino places i would never take are honda rancher.

 

hmm ,just have been the doors i had or just me ha. Really? I would take a rhino almost anywhere but i still feel you can take quads more places, mainly because rhinos will roll easier

I have a friend that has broken every axle in his 660 Rhino (Running somewhat large tires on it, don't remember the size) and replaced them with gorilla axles and I think he might have broke one or two of those. He also said he wasn't driving it very hard when this happened. I hear this is a somewhat common problem?

If I had a little more cash to spend I would go with a Teryx or RZR. (RZR 4 is freakin sweet) BUT that's not the case.

 

maybe the older doors wear not as good. idk... and yeah i have gone places with the rhino wear i have flipped the 4 wheeler. them being wider is better n off camper and stuff or steep hills they don’t flip as much. i drift the shit out of are rhino and never have flipped it. friend flipped his rzr drifting it... (i do not suggest drifting or jumping till you really now how it handles!! i have been on atvs and golf carts since i was like 5. i always wear my helmet and buckle up if i’m not doing yard work. it’s kinda hard and annoying.
