So that servo you guys recommended I order?

I ordered it a few days ago... Just now learning that Savox servos sometimes glitch or brown out because of insufficient BEC in castle ESC's...

As much as you desire that, I'll pass. Not a problem unless running above 4S IIRC. You should have no issues..

I took the B4 to the track the other day. I had fun, but broke more than I expected. I'm running a stock 17.5t BL so I don't think going faster will help?

I'm now interested in something more forgiving while I learn to drive. Something that will take my bad jumps and other track abuse. Some thing beefier.

I've been looking at the 1/8th electric buggies and 1/10th 4x4 SCTs. My LHS supports AE/Traxxas and my track is AE/Losi.

I know Traxxas is stupid tough but I don't want to sell it/drop a ton of cash into making it competitive with the real racing trucks. The RC8.2e looks like a tank and should take any abuse I throw at it. The SC10 4x4 looks pretty beefy and is cheaper. I would have to get a new esc/motor/servo unless I went Traxxas.

I kinda have a direction but not a whole lot of momentum. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

You own one of the best platforms out there. I own both a B and a T4 those models are not that fragile. I, of course, don't know your driving skills, but a new model is not gonna correct bad habits. I'd suggest, slowing down and learning to drive what you have, you don't get in your real truck and just hammer it down do you? On a race track slower, is usually faster. The driver that crashes the least, most of the time finishes close to the front.

Fair enough. All of my damage was related to jumping. I broke ball studs, shock ends, a rear bulkhead and cracked the front of my chassis. All of my racing experience is on road, all of my bashing is off road with little jumps. I also haven't driven any rc for the last 4-5 years...

I was thinking a larger, tougher vehicle would be more forgiving to my driving. Then when I get better go back to the smaller, lighter B4.

It could also be all the CF on the FT B4 I have. Would switching some key parts out make the buggy more forgiving? Chassis, arms, etc?

Damn dude, that's a lot of stuff broken. Make sure ball studs are tight, I find most of the ones that snap, are loose, but, they will "work harden" over time. The chassis kinda freaks me out, I've never even seen one broken. But yes, swapping to the composite (plastic, not carbon) chassis is more forgiving, same with the A-arms (I'd suggest RPM ones). Don't race against other drivers, just race the track, or yourself, and magically you'll do better..

    Yeah.
I agree with t4daddy, that's a lot of broken stuff even for a terrible driver. I would have to chalk that up more to bad luck than anything else. Are these really big jumps, like on a larger track set up for the 1/8th scales? Are you overshooting? Undershooting?

A bigger or more complex vehicle won't necessarily break less and will cost more in time and $ to fix. However, if the track is better suited to 1/8th scales, you may find it easier to drive an RC8. Or, you may need a little more power than the stock setup, just to let you get a little more control over your speed. Stock setups can take a bit to get moving, and if you are coming up short on jumps and that is what is breaking things, more available power could help. Of course, if you are already overshooting them, scratch the more power and just practice.

Otherwise, I see no good reason to change until you can stop breaking what you've got.

The track is built for 1/10th mod and 1/8th nitro. I can clear doubles fine just one double ends in a tabletop not a ramp down. That's my problem area if it's not a perfect landing. The triple I don't even attempt since I know I don't have enough power.

What I perceived was the kids with their modded SCTs flying all over the track. Jumping too far and crashing with no broken parts. While my little buggy breaks on doubles? I figured I just had a fragile racing buggy and wasn't skilled enough to control it properly. Even the old guys with 1/8th were crashing harder than I was with no consequence.

Like I said I still had fun, I just figured I might need to change classes till I can drive better.

Are you undershooting the double and landing on your chassis instead of your tires?
