Here in TX the legal limit is 25%....but I want to get maybe a 50 or 60% limo tint...will I really get pulled over? I heard that it is only illegal when you use that tint on the windshield not the passenger/driver windows

    Thanks,

    it depends on your state

i know here in sc you will get pulled over for it (not that often)

really i have only heard of teens like me getting pulled over for it because the troopers sit at the school at the end of the month and pull as many students going into school as they can...

I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.
they have to have a tint meter with them. From my experience its a rarity but 25% tint (i'd assume you mean as in 25% light getting through) is pretty dark. The back windows are 20% factory.

You have it wrong. The lower the number the darker the tint, not the other way around.

exactly. the percentage assigned to a tint corresponds to the amount of light let through the window, not the darkness. How can you measure a percentage of black?

Oh, ok, I get it now...so the lower the percentage, the darker it is...ok.. then I will shoot for a 15-20%..and I seriously doubt that the cops here have a tint meter (at least in this small town)...

correct. i tint windows for a living. the factory % on the back is 20%

now.. take into consideration that the windows without tint have approx 3-7% reduction built in. so if you have ur fronts tinted at 20% add in the 3%, you are down to 17%. most of the time when i do 20% on a vehicle, i can measure it afterwards and it comes out to 16%.

I want to tint 30% on the fronts but am concerned about it being hard to see.

    70% is legal in PA.

Even at 20%, you are going to have a tough time seeing at night. Sit in the back on a dark night and check your visibility. It is mostly a problem when looking at your side mirror or when looking left at intersecting traffic.

My neighbor has 20% on his fronts and he has hit stuff because he can't see. Never been pulled over though. I was pulled over in my friends truck in Ohio. Cop pulled out a stick with several tints and held it up to the window. He decided we were illegal and gave us a written warning. This was on the Ohio Turnpike and we were pulled over specifically for the front tint. He had 20%.

We were also smoking a joint at the time but lit cigarettes very quickly and didn't get busted. Could've been worse and all due to the tint.

its not really tint.. its the glass it self.. its not 100% optically clear. its about 95-97% clear.

I went with the 20 up front to match the 20 in the back...looks good...real good!
