I just got this new Pioneer HU today. After a complete install the Metra dash kit doesn't fit by a long shot (HU is sitting lower then the opening will allow)

Dumb question, but any chance it's in upside down? Have you tried to put the face on?

Question. Is the bracket (what the HU is attached to) the one that came with the kit? Mine came with a plastic bracket set that not only attached to the HU but also attached to the plastic surround.

    It's right side up.

I used the factory metal brackets that were attached to the JBL stereo. Am I using the wrong brackets?

Are there any other holes in the side of your new h/u that correspond with the holes in the factory brackets that would allow the h/u to sit higher?

Do the instructions say to use the factory HU bracket?

The JBL system is unique and I don't think the brackets fit other systems. You have to get new brackets (that usually come with the new HU and face place).

I had issues with this dash kit when installing my Kenwood DNX8120.

The bottom left corner never clipped in properly, it interferred with the tilt screen option and the hazard button would rub and get stuck.

I fianlly got fed up and swapped it for a Scosche Kit....worked like a charm.

    Good luck!

There are other holes but the factory brackets (which the metra kit says to use) only can go in on one way. There are three little guiders that also fit perfectly with the holes to screw onto the new HU. Pretty Sure I have that part of the install correctly.

    Yes they do

I'll get some pics up soon.

Thanks. I'm also swapping for the scosche kit. Hopefully everything goes smoothly. The unit is sitting in the dash now free hanging without any dash kit and everything works perfectly. It's an awesome unit.

Here's the trick with the metra don't screw it down yet put the silver trim on and while holding and pushing ur unit up screw in the first two 10 mm bolts and then test fit like if ur unit opens and close etc etc and then keep holding and pushing up screw in the last two they will give a fight but it works...

    Thanks TW
