    Bold is ex-co worker
    Normal is current co worker
    Italics is me.

Thought I'd share a little conversation I overheard today at work that made me sick. Walking to 2 friends from work. One was recently fired, maybe a month or 2 ago for drinking on the job. He was back just stopping in saying hey to everyone and such. I walk up and hear this part of the conversation. "Everythings good?" "Yeah, everythings going well." "Where do you work now?" "Oh, I'm on umployment." "You're on unemployment!?" "Yeah." "That's great!!" "Yeah, it's pretty awesome. I love it." "Hahaha cool." "Oh yeah that's just sweet! Lazy piece of shit." ( I said it with a joking tone, but being dead serious.)

Can't begin to explain how much this dissapointed me and made me dislike him. I'm just disgusted. People these days have NO dignity. If you really need unemployment, that's okay. If you think it's "pretty awesome" you collect, please die.

    My rant for the day.

There was a guy who worked the rotation on the rigs and during the off season instead of getting a job he'd collect EI as well. I told him straight up, dude, you should really get a job. Working the rigs is a 12 hour a day 2 weeks on one week off deal. They make upwards of $27/h.

I was like you man...fucking disgusted.

Haha noo way in hell. He was 100 percent serious. He kicks back all day, plays video games, and waits for his free money.

    He has no shame.

It's essentially free money, I disagree with it and the way it is used. We as a nation have provided it to the people though.

Its his money and he is entitled to it. If you work and work and work for years you pay into taxes that fund unemployment.

He is not in the wrong for taking money that he has the right to draw from...

But him being a lazy piece of shit is another issue. ;)

    well...its true...

No matter what you think of the word.

If you work for all your life and need unemployment you are ENTITLED to draw from that money.

I hate how people think that someone on unemployment should go accept a job anywhere getting paid minimum wage when the unemployment is double what they are going to make...how are you supposed to support a family on minimum wage??

I'll agree with you, however it's more of a pride thing and individual responsibility with some people. Personally, I wouldn't take it. I've been unemployed in the past but fortunately I found a job before I had to resort to taking out unemployment. Plus, $330 a week wouldn't even pay my mortgage. The problem is that so many people would rather take unemployment because it's just easier than finding a job.

I don't like depending on others to provide for me.

While i do agree it seems this person didnt care about having a job he just likes getting money for not doing shit. At least thats how the story came across to me.

But yea, i had to collect for a few months a couple years ago. Was actively searching and applying for jobs in my field and qualifications. No way i was going to flip burgers after spending all that money for college.

yes, but the underlying idea being a temporary holdover, assuming there's "initiative" to get off of it and working again..., not an indefinite vacation...

    Once again with the spin

You are now assuming everyone abuses the system

Having the system is one story

Abusing the system is another story

    The are not the same
