Looking for some help here. My 14 month old just decided to pour a cup of water on the couch and it ran down into the vents on the back of my MacBook pro. I took the back cover off and have a hair drier on we're booing on it. It was on when this happened and itself shut off when I was draining the water out of it. I assume that is not a good sign. Battery is still in it. Any advice?

That's a good article, but LOL @ removing the MBP battery. That's not a simple task... Insert <3 my PC laptop line here...

A large tupperware full of rice will help moto932 (which they also suggest in the post :p). I'd let it sit for a few days - no joke - before turning it on again. As that article/thread states, you do not want to turn it on if there's even a chance there's some water left in thar.

Get this stuff called crafted silica.

My boy threw my phone it the dog dish once a pond a time.

I left it in there(silica) a couple of days and worked like a champ.

... ^^^ .. You can put it in a small closet (tape door edges) or a big 50 - 100 gallon bag ... with a dehumidifier and that will make it bone dry. In the interim, do not turn it on.

This also works with a car ... a dehumidifier inside car (electric cord out window with tape seal) will dry out a soaking wet interior in 24 hours.

I have helped several others with same problem and this works very well. It's not about heat or blowing air on it, it's about making it arid & dry.

my macbook pro 13" is taking forever to start up (minutes). once it is started, i cannot adjust the brightness from the keyboard. When i go System Preferences -> Displays - all that is there is a box on the left with "1280x800". When i press "detect displays" nothing happens. Also, when i go to launchpad, it is sluggish to open, and by sluggish i mean it blinks as it tries to open and when i open a folder in launchpad, it takes a while and everything flashes... Mr. Guru, what do you suggest?

EDIT - has Intel Core i5, 2.5ghz. 4gb Memory, recently had hard drive replaced when original one decided it was best it didnt work anymore. (500gb) have only had lapto for about 4 months

Okay Apple Nerds! I gotta question for ya.

Whenever I try to sign into my Itunes account, an error box pops up and says "We could not complete your Itunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (9808)"

If I were you I would contact apple about this. Sounds like a very "Deep" problem. 1st hard drive took a crap and after having that "fixed" you still have bugs . . . Maybe it needs OS reinstalled? I'm sure someone else will chime in with a bit more know-how than myself.

thats exactly what the apple guy said. told me my time was up with their free phone service. but he then said "wait you havent had this computer very long, let me check" so then my phonecall was free and he walked me through a few resets that did nothing to help. said he doesnt think changing the HD fixed the last problem so might be a lot more issues since the display is messing up and the computer isnt identifying the HD now. so i have a case # and will take it to apple when i get home.
as of this morning it wont turn on at all. it goes to the grey screen with the apple, shows a loading bar at the bottom and halfway through the loading bar it turns off (even when plugged in)

Do you know anything about Ipods? I have a 4th gen nana I think and all of a sudden it just wouldn't sync to my computer. I have updated the Ipod, Itunes, and reset the Ipod. None of this helped. I called Apple and they wanted 30 bucks to help me out. I don't think so. Just curious if you could help me out. Thank you sir

That is extremely odd. I bought a MBP last August and haven't had a single problem... Maybe it's you? :notsure:

mine did this shortly after updating to snow leopard, took it into the store (also have applecare) and they tried reviving it but in the end had to wipe my drive and reinstall the OS. now it works better than before the upgrade.
