He is the story within the story, tragic as it is, this from the LA Times..

And at a tearful memorial for the victims Tuesday night, Mayor Jean Quan said such violence could have happened in any other U.S. city.

"This is America," she said, "where you can find a gun easier than mental health services."

Another total fail on dumb-ass Cali laws, is the fact he carried four magazines, they must be proud it wasn't just two.

Sorry, I don't think Cali will wake up. They will continue down the ridiculous path of gun control. Yeah, that will work.

My dad would have a shot gun in a gun rack on his truck and go hunting whenever. He can't believe I can't have a pocket knife at school.

Banning guns on campus takes away your ability to defend yourself. Stand there and get shot.

I have one question. There have been dozens of mass shootings where are the concealed weapon carriers during these shootings? Having a gun pointed at you is not fun and neither are the results that come with your actions. It’s not easy and I hope none of you are ever in that situation.

I had a buddy get a 3 month suspension from school because he had his rifle locked in his car because we were going hunting after school. I.understand that it was against the rules but come on

ya, but it is college campus...you can't carry concealed or otherwise on the majority of College campuses (Utah and Colorado are the only ones). It needs to be legalized though.

there is a group trying to get it legalized, Students for Concealed Carry/ (yes, I support them, not a member yet because I haven't signed up, I take part in the empty holster protest though).

They do good work, have a lot more supporting facts than any anti-guns on campus organization, and I have looked at a lot and argued with a few people (that was fun).

now then, here is what an anti-gun zone campus (work place, anything) shows

they ain't there, because by-and-large this crap happens in "gun-free-zones" - which successfully disarm the law-abiding, not the ruthless criminal... gun-free-zones = CPZ criminal protection zone - exactly as it turned out in this case in CA...

I would do the same, but I am not 21 and I live in the dorms. And to me, if I were to carry without being "allowed to", I dont want it known to everyone in the dorms that I have it, thats just asking for trouble. One of these days something is gonna happen at college campus and someone with a concealed carry permit is going to be shot (and/or killed) and it will make its way up to supreme court, or someone will be carrying where they aren't supposed to and they stop a shooting, in which case, they are charged and again, it makes its way up in the courts to supreme court.

I was reading an article a while back about a kid who was hunting in the early morning (I believe ducks) and stored his shotgun(s) unloaded in his truck off campus. His car was searched, he was taken out of class, he was suspended at first, then suspended indefinitely, then expelled....then it came to bite the school in ass

here is an article on it, not the exact one, but close

my point exactly. Here is my question to those who say we have police for that (this is an argument for my campus Virginia Tech).

I ask them how long it takes to be shot, stabbed, killed, robbed, raped, etc...their response is always the same, not long. I respond with "it takes very little time at all, the average response time for the cops to show up at one of the panic button towers around campus is 2 minutes. you could be stabbed, robbed, shot, killed, etc...before they even got there."

that usually shuts them up pretty good.

we are slowly working on turning people around to support it, haven't gotten too far yet, but we are working on it.

by the way, the empty holster protest was wednesday, today, and tomorrow

got one on my hip even now. no flap holsters, must very obviously have nothing in it. get more information from SCCC website.

i too hope im never involved in anything...having personally witnessed a violent crime it's what woke me up to the fact it would be wise to have the means to protect myself... i ran over and tried to help the child while the shooter was still shooting at the car... http://www.firstcoastnews.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=86911

Off-duty without the tactical advantage of body armor, radios and whatnot, (or as a civlian) my goal is to be a good witness to a crime that occurs in my presence -- but if the crime becomes one of violence or others (including me) are threatened or the suspects actions communicate a violent intent my goal changes -- don't be a victim.

It really is that simple. However, if you do choose to become a victim that is a choice you make and I respect that. All I ask is that you respect my choice not to be. All of the rhetoric and passion aside - I don't leave home without a gun. It is a choice and I hope and pray remains a choice.

Be safe - I agree with a previous poster that I hope no one ever experiences the violence that "man" is capable of but having experienced it, and knowing there are no rules/etiquette/go backs, it is clear in my mind what I will do. Believing that passing laws will regulate anyone intent on breaking the law is not only naive, it is dangerous to me and my family, and will not be accepted. I hope never to have to make the choice to either defend me and mine or break a law.

GeorgiaCarry.org is actually looking for plaintiffs right now to challenge GA law on the carry ban...i personally would like it over turned because while its legal to leave a gun in your car(if licensed) on campus in GA what about the days when i ride my motorcycle? or if i want to ride my bicycle to campus or even walk what do you do with it then? What if i live on campus the SCOTUS already ruled in the DC case and Chicago you cant be banned from keeping a pistol in your home...when you live on campus that is your home
