Wow, a 2-position tailgate... would those be the up and down positions? Or are they talking about when the gate is on and off the truck? LOL I didn't realize there was such a demand for varying degrees of inclination for the tailgate...

There's a reasonable chance I'd never buy another Tacoma, but there's no way in hell I'll ever buy another GM product. And OnStar? Just use the damn cell phone that you already own and pay for anyway.

As an aside, I was an engineer for a company that sold vehicle tracking services. In the control center the operators had a lot of fun looking up friends, family and famous people in the database and tracking where they went in real-time. And the database kept in it all kinds of information, like other "authorized drivers" and their drivers license numbers and other such unnecessary crap. People just hand over information without question, it's amazing. Just think how much money an unscrupulous and connected operator could make with that kind of information. They know when you leave your house possibly leaving it empty, they know when a car is parked at the airport overnight, they know when tractor-trailers drop trailers full of goods at Target at night, they know when business owners are making deposits at banks, they can tell car thieves when a vehicle has a tracker and can disable it for them, etc. Not worth the risk IMO.

I find my self doing that sometimes too.

What is Government motors getting at? They need fancy features just for people to buy and that the Tacoma is bought regardless?

I Love You Guys! ... Now THIS is why I enjoy my Tacoma so much!

If I WON a GM product... I would sell it so fast that the ink on the Title would still be wet...

Great posts fellow Taco fans... Good work!

I think the main advantage to a truck like the Colorado/Canyon is the price. You can land a loaded 4x4 for much cheaper than a tacoma. If I was in the market for a dedicated work truck in this category, I have to admit I would probably be looking at one of these. Tacoma is more of a refined 'adventure' truck that appeals to the sportsman/enthusiast. I did test drive a v6 Colorado 4x4(among 5 other trucks I tested) last month prior to deciding on the Tacoma. Wanted to try a V8 but there were none available.

Interior is much more spartan and utilitarian and the ride is less refined than the Tacoma in terms of handling and such. It is also a lot noisier inside. It reminds me of a Ford F series truck from the 90's.

However, I do think it would make a good economical work truck and I suspect that's the main buyer. In that regards, it's hard to call it a bad truck or bad choice--just not the most refined vehicle in this class and it lacks the polish of a Tacoma. It is not going to appeal to the same crowd, unless someone wanted a truck and didn't want to spend a lot of cash. Right now you can score some nice deals on these--mid twenties for a loaded 4x4 doublecab or access cab. I still have the dealer writing me asking me if I am still itnerested even though I told them twice I bought a new truck already. The price they were offering kept coming down. It is good I got the Tacomqa when I did as if they kept offering me the lower prices while still shopping I might have been seriously tempted. I am talking $25 K for a 4x4 Doublecab with all the bells and whistles they can put in these things.

The reason why people buy Canyon's is because they couldn't afford Tacoma's. All that they are paying for in the GMC department is for Onstar, more warranty. Oh! And don't forget the leather steering wheel. Well just because of those things, I'm sold on buying a Canyons, I'm going to rush out tomorrow and sell my Tacoma and buy one.

No way in bloody hell would I ever buy a Canyon. Defiantly no way in hell, ever would I ever sell my Tacoma.

People who buy Canyon is because they couldn't afford to buy a Tacoma or they fell for that propaganda crap.

What a crock! If you were dumb enough to buy a gmc canyon over a Tacoma then you deserve what's coming. Aside from the obvious depreciation (almost worthless in 7-10 years) and the ugly styling, the un- reliability, long stopping distance, etc, etc, etc. above all else ........ It's a GMC . Once upon a time they were a great truck, no longer.

PLEASE DO YOUR HOMEWORK before you buy ANY vehicle. You will save yourself a ton of grief later on. Tacomas are THE best truck out there, no question.

I think Top Gear should do a show on what they did to the Toyota Hilix. I am sure that it wouldn't make it out of the ocean or out of that demolition of that building alive.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
A light comes on in my dash that says "Maint Required" when my truck needs an oil changes. Guess that is too technical for GM people to figure out haha.
