Key fob won't work. Truck won't start. Had to have it towed. No word yet from the dealer.

    Did you try new batterys?

    Tacomas have door remotes.

Fobs are for BMW's and Audi's and such.

You have two chipped keys (black fob), right? Neither of them worked?

Umm... they call them Fobs at the dealer, the website, vehicle pricing guides, and when you google image search the term "key fob" many of the images look like what you get from the dealer. Also, Fobs (or what you are considering a fob) aren't just for "luxury" cars any longer. My ex-wife's Altima had one for crying out loud!

As for the OP... damn man... Hope you get everything worked out... That is some crazy bad luck there!

Insurance will fix it. I work at a golf course and a coworker had his Tundra struck last fall. We were parked in about the same place. So, lightning does strike twice in the same place. Went through the antenna and burnt out ECU?, EMU? No body damage that I know of. Crazy stuff.

A Tundra and a Tacoma? It's official, God hates Toyota trucks. He obviously supports the GMC Canyon with its OnStar.

Fob just sounds so metro-sexual. So I will stick with remote.

That is pretty nuts though. I wonder what would have happened if you were in the truck when it got struck. Probably would have needed new seats.
