I think my biggest fear on that entire route is my rear bumper, but I guess it just gives me the excuse to buy/build a new one!

I may go with on trifecta and I'm rolling open diffs. Adam promised I could test his winch lol. Either that or hells...both of which are above my level, but that's what learning is for

There will be a few places that you will probably need a strap if you don't have a locker. The Golden Crack is probably the biggest one. Should be no biggie. You WILL drag the passenger side corner of your rear bumper on the golden crack. Just be prepared.

I'm running Golden spike with O/O diffs should make for a good experience

I'm hoping that my short wheelbase will help avoid too much dragging but if it happens that's fine

Take a look at this video. Sorry its mostly jeeps, but there is a Tacoma starting at about the 3:25 mark. The Tacoma could have taken a slightly better line but what happens with his truck is pretty typical for a Tacoma. You'll lift a rear tire going in and coming out you'll probably drag your bumper, although this Tacoma comes through pretty lucky without hitting his bumper. If you watch the Jeep Comanche at the end, you'll see how he hit his rear bumper. That's more common for truck like ours.

Hells is easier overall for sure especially if you don't do the hard obstacles.

Only things I would maybe avoid on Hells are the Escalator (although it looks worse than it really is unless you pick the wrong line, then it gets ugly). Tip Over Challenge is dumb IMO. It's not necessarily a difficult obstacle but the risk vs reward is way out of balance. That obstacle is polished really smooth and it's easy to get your front end sliding off line causing a rollover. I've done that obstacle before and have never felt a need to do it again. The Bath Tub is gnarly. You'll know it when you see it. It is a very steep climb to get out of and usually requires a TON of skinny pedal to launch the truck out of the bottom. Hell's Gate is another obstacle that isn't that bad if you're on the correct line but the risk if you screw up is really high. Personally I wouldn't do Hells gate with open diffs.

But like has been said there are bypasses to all of those and I'm sure there will be some in your group that want to try them so you can watch and decide for yourself if you want to give it a shot or not.

Oh c'mon, don't let me scare you away from it. It's challenging but if you want to run it we can get you through it just fine.

Hells gate was one thing I wanged to try. I got a little bit of comfort when someone said that the risk of tipping over was lower with upen difs because you would spin your tired before the locker got you up and over the tipping point

No. The Crack is not difficult at all. It looks cool cuz you lift tires, but with a locker you line yourself up and drive straight across. It's not hard. The "hard" stuff is really just lots of ledges on the trail, and there are a couple optional obstacles.

If you are worried about your bumper, I have my stock one still sitting in my garage if you need a replacement. Mine is in perfect shape. :)

Your spotter should stop you before you get to the tipping point. Spinning tires means you typically have to give more throttle to push through the spot where you're spinning. Not always the best recipe. But seriously I someone wants to try an obstacle, they should try it. That's what's cool about Moab. TONS of stuff to have fun on. You can always change your mind after you see it in person. Or just give it a shot. You'll never know your limits if you don't try.

Kane Creek is a decent warm up. The final climb you're talking about on Kane is similar except you're climbing them on Kane Creek. GS you're mostly dropping down the ledges. It's always easier to fall off of something than it is to climb it. :)

Yeah, I was offering my bumper to Mr. Bassman.
