Your boy definitely launched a few over the berm around the 53 second mark. Not cool, even if there's nothing behind the berm. Control those rounds.

I just ordered my Left handed Noveske N4 16" Recon in 5.56 I can't wait till it hits my FFL so I can put some rounds down range. :yay::bananadance::woot: I've been trying to figure out what optics I want on it. I also ordered a 10 pack of Pmags from Brownells and some Frog lube that I've been researching. I'll post some pics when I get it!

When I mounted my scope the red dot hits right in the middle of my front sight. What height of a riser do you guys think I need? I want to be able to put a flip up rear sight and still see the target through the scope . Is this possibly or even realistic?

Tell us what red dot and mounting system you have now, and if you want true cowitness or lower-third cowitness and we can recommend something.

Hey all you knowledgeable AR builders! Right now I have a basic Armalite as a homedefense/do everything/plinker. A buddy of mine is willing to trade for a newer pop-up camper. (I need one, but have no money to put toward one!) I can sneak a couple of bucks into replacing the AR, and am wondering if anyone would be willing to put one together. I still don't know much about what is better than another, but I do understand that the Armalite/Bushmaster thing is a little more expensive than partsing one together. I'm looking for a carbine length AR, full stock is fine with me. I would like a front with rails for light/lazer/bipod to be added later.

It would be used for all around use. BUIS and probably some time of red-dot, but no actual scope. I shoot right handed but am left eye dominant.

I live in NY, so some stuff can't be done, like collapsable stock etc.

Any help or suggestions are appreciated! Thanks!

I bought a cheap Center Point 1x25mm scope from Walmart until I have the funds to purchase a quality red dot. It came with Weaver style rings. I have a Spikes Tactical lower and a DPMS flat top upper and a fixed front sight. I'm not sure what the true cowitness or lower third is.

Hmm, well you can go with a riser like this and use your sight:
    http://www.midwayusa.com/product/31...tinny-style-riser-mount-5-ar-15-flattop-matte

Or you can ditch/sell that sight and go for something like this, which will be high enough to cowitness.
    http://www.midwayusa.com/product/65...1x-5-moa-dot-with-picatinny-style-mount-matte

And there are other option of course - replacing the gas block with a railed one, for instance. Sounds like you're not looking to spend a lot of $$ though.

    Legal issues with this.

You would have to find someone in-state to work with you. Guns can not be transferred across state lines without the use of a dealer (Federal law, NY may be more restrictive).

One of us could do everything for you EXCEPT purchase and ship the lower receiver.... so we could build the upper for you and ship it without a problem.

Fortunately, assembling the lower is simple and can be done with only basic tools (channel-locks and a brass punch).
For the lower, there are only a couple on the market that are shit. I can't recall the name, but I think it starts with a "V". For the most part, go with your budget and preference for rollmarks... Zombie, biohazard, Stag, etc... Spikes, Stag, JD Machine, Kaiser, Mega... all of the "name" brands make quality receivers (and many are made in the same factory).

For the lower parts kit, I stick with RRA. I've had severe issues with Stag disconnectors not being properly fitted and causing full-auto. I don't know if this has been corrected or not, but about a year to 18 months ago there was a rash of reports, and during assembly I could tell that mine was not working right.

Pistol grip, buttstock... since you can't have a telescoping stock your options are severely limited, but there are options and based completely on what you like.
RRA makes a fixed version of their Tactical Entry CAR stock, or you could go with a skeleton design. I like the RRA because the buttpad slides down to reveal two battery storage tubes.
Of course, the original A1/A2 stocks are always an option.

I like the Combat Arms pistol grips. Interchangeable front and backstraps are really nice for those without Mil-Spec hands ;)
