Here is an honest review of the 2012 Tacoma. His review parallels what many of you complain about on this forum regarding the 2nd gen Tacoma. I'm still looking at getting a taco but the prices for used tacos are ridiculously high and in my opinion not really worth it for the money. I was considering new but I can't justify buying a new taco with old technology so I may hold out for the 3rd gen however long that takes. I love toyota's reliability as I've owned two Lexus SC's for the past 12 years and had good luck with them.

I think I agree with the man on most of that. Even the LE corolla gives avg and instant fuel economy, and outside temp.

Although, the track system isn't THAT hard to use.

It all depends on what you want the truck for and how you feel about it. Yes you can go get a fullsize for about the same money, i looked into it before i purchased my Tacoma. For me i would never use a fullsize for its full potential and it is more of a pain to park and tight fitting in my garage. At the end of the day its all about what your needs are and what your happy spending your money on.

The rail system is really easy... can't imagine someone spending 10 minutes to get it to work...

The midsize truck market as a whole makes almost no sense these days. You can get a fullsize truck for the same price with more of everything except fuel economy.

Midsize trucks make sense as toys or toy haulers and not much else, Tacoma included. That's why the segment is dying.

I didn't care for that review for a few reasons.

    1. If you can't figure out the rail system you have an extremely low IQ

    2. Obviously it's going to ride rough, it's a truck

    3. It's a mid-size truck not a full-size so for him to complain about the space in the back...I don't find that fair to say. Besides he is like a 250lb linebacker

I personally think Tacoma's are more then just features...its a lifestyle, tradition if you will. And, if you've owned them in the past, you generally will continue to. Some people even switch it up, and buy older generations long after they have had new ones. Tacomas just kick ass. Done and done.

Agreed. He pissed me off with that little part. It's not hard to figure out at all. It's a pretty self explanatory. Stop acting like an inept individual and use your brain

Also the double cab IMO offers great rear seat room compared to a majority of other vehicles including some cars I've ridden in. That dudes a big portly son of a bitch. Maybe the DC room is fine and he needs to go on a calorie restricted diet.

Though he did bring's up some valid points about the dated MPG, transmission and such but your also paying for a high quality truck.

Plaeeese. Really? Can't figure out the tie down system, yeah he can't fit in the back...too many burgers? Ruff ride? Ah, not so much IMO. Bad fuel economy? Compared to a Civic? Yup. I didn't by a Tacoma to haul my family around, for the fuel economy and the 'out dated technology?' Really? Entune? Hello? Read the brochure!

If you want a more "car like" midsize truck - well the future is now and get the Honda Ridgeline. Personally, for all the way that folks gripe about what's missing on Tacomas, I'm afraid Toyota will go that direction when they do create their "next gen" truck - whenever that is.

But If you want the "old skool" midsize truck that's still a truck - well then, best of breed is waiting for you down at your local Yota dealer.

If you want the absolute most bang for you buck in a truck, get a minimally equipped full size F150. No point in paying nearly the same denero for a smaller payload.

EDIT - actually, the 5 lug 2WD 4 banger is still a great "bang for the buck" purchase. That's a lot of truck for the money right there.

I pretty much agree with the review. They are good trucks but for the price they better be.

If the competition was better we wouldn't all have Tacomas.

That's odd. Last year when I had the only truck that could make it out of the lease after we got caught in a severe over night storm it didn't seem that over rated. The full sized 4x4 F150, Silverado and Tundra didn't really seem like the better truck at the time. The other 3 guys were more than happy to climb into the cramped confines of my Tacoma and ride into town for a hot breakfast while they waited for everything to dry out - nobody complained about a lack of space.

Truth. No one else is competing, and that's why some of this laziness (weak springs, 5 speed transmissions, undersized diffs) has shown up in Toyota's process.
